Ken Skupski has announced his retirement from professional tennis and this year's Wimbledon will be his final tournament. I have had the pleasure of meeting Ken on numerous occasions at tournaments and there is no better gentleman on the tour than Ken. Always willing to share his time, his thoughts, his love of Liverpool FC (even the best have their faults wink) and has often sorted me out with an accreditation at tournaments giving me privileged access to areas that most are never fortunate enough to see.

Ken. I will your all the very best for the future. Enjoy the extra time with your family and I know whatever challenge you take on next, you will make it a success.

I completely agree. Met Ken and family a couple of times at Ilkley and Manchester via Phil.

One of the nicest guys on tour.

Neal looks like he is moving back to WR3 in the live rankings, Wes losing 150 points from last year. Although Neal himself then loses 150 points in a weeks time.

I make it that all Neal has to drop for the remainder of the year is 90 points on 07/11 from last year's Paris Masters ( partnering Evo ).

That should then leave him level on points and tournaments played wirh Wes and they have only partnered each other in 2022 so should be level pegging going forward if they stay together which seems rather likely!

With the points Joe & Rajeev have to drop there is a fair chance that they will be joint WR 1 soon.

Yes, sorry, I miscounted. I could see they would be equal, Neal and Wes, but somehow my maths gave me 150!

Could still be a showdown in Turin for top spot (s)...

Neal is showing as live equal number one today for next weeks rankings - actually , live rankings show him as equal points but second to Wes, but presume that is alphabetical and they would actually be equal 1?

Looking into it looks like Neal has one extra tournament played. Which will be off on 14/11. Stockholm last year. So as Neal has played one more tournament he will behind Wes until that drops then they will be level and nothing to separate them from what I can see. Cant remember either missing a week with injury And playing with someone else.

Ah yes, I somehow previously missed that extra tournanent partnering Ken due off on 14/11. OK, yes think from 14/11 onwards they should be level.

I read the entire interview, as I haven't a problem with the footie comments.  Interesting that Ken is now travelling with Neal as his coach.  I note that he refers to Wesley Koolhof as "Wesley" rather than "Wes".  He, of all people, should know... wink

Putting aside the Wes or Wesley thing, more important is that he clearly sets it up to challenge Leon to choose Dan and him for doubles in dc in February.

Nice positioning ! And good call.

I remember talking to Ken many years ago in Marseille when Neal had just left college and even back then he said that he acted not just as playing partner to his brother but also as coach.

Mega congrats to Neal (and coach, Ken)

Neal and Wes Koolhof won the Wimbledon Men's Doubles title, in two sets - great tennis, great match, great title to cherish for ever
