I was thinking of nominating her for POTM just for her W/C 2nd Nov performance, but held off, and that loss in quals last week didn't help, but it has been a really solid month for her thus far. 8-2 record, some routine as would be expected, but some other really good results, especially for a player that's been out for such a long time. A couple more wins this week and she could be a contender.
Her potential R2 opponents followed her on to Court 4:

Jasmine a huge 1/16 fave to win her match this afternoon.
Yes, those odds blew me away !
I know her opponent is 31, and has never been that highly ranked.
But all the same - for it to be quite so one-sided, pretty amazing.
I look at players utr values.....jasmine a 10, opponent an 8 so I am not surprised by one sided odds. It's quite rare that anyone overturns that sort of difference in utr...of course it can happen for all sorts of reasons, but I wouldn't bet on opponent. Also I found she is on a bit of a losing streak. She must have got some points somewhere to get her ranking though.
I've been twittering on about Jasmine for a while in juniors, and am a big fan, but I still think it's lop-sided - I've stuck my 10p on her opponent, I'm afraid.
Giulia Morlet was the 'next big star' for a while.
She was champion of France for 13 year-olds, and then again in the 15-16 year-old category (where she beat Elsa Jacquemot, I think)
Not many win twice and she was always in the FFT press, and being touted for great things.
I'm not really quite sure what happened but certainly the last 12-24 months have not been that great (she got knocked out in the first round in RG juniors this year).
She passed her Bac with Mention Bien, I read, which is very good for a player spending so much time on her tennis and I think she's off to the US next year, Arizona I think.
SHe's known for being a player who constructs her point rather than one like Elsa who tries to hit the fluff off the ball. Which might be more up Anna's street.
