Week 46 - ITF (W15) Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt Hard

Is it too early to nominate POM. Every tournament she has played recently she has gone a round further bar 1 where she went at FQR 2 weeks on the trot, massive progression

Much as this result has put big smile on my face, I don't think a couple of good results really dents Heather's point, though

Yes, I think this is an important point - the progression has been very encouraging and shows the benefit of committing to a sustained period of playing in adult events, not just dipping in and out occasionally.

To be fair I didn't have an issue with the point she was making but I definitely had an issue with the timing of it.  If she really felt that strongly why wait until after another abject failure at the French Open to make it. I love Heather but it left a sour taste in my mouth.

never too early Emmsie, we have 4 nominations in already this month.

The only thing regarding PoM is that this has been her only event in November, so those other October results shouldn't really have any bearing, or otherwise Fran could technically be in line for a third month in a row, despite not winning in November yet. That said, Jasmine has had 4 wins this week, 2 of them very good, particular today, so definitely nomination worthy IMO.

Anna dropped the first set 5-7. 7 breaks of serve in total.

When it comes to the vote, I will ensure monthly stats are available! Whether a voter wishes to refer to ongoing body of work is a personal decision, ideally focus on month in hand!

I tend not to regulate nominations (some  get through I wouldnt personally support) but heh, it is a bit of fun in the end, so I am light on the regulatory framework!!!

Yeah that's what I was meaning, if you follow a players particular progress and really like how they're going, then naturally, that will come into your considerations, but I was more meaning from an overview perspective, if you're predominantly a poster on the men's section and haven't heard of Jasmine, then you're going to be more interested in the month in hand.

3 more breaks to start the second set, *1-2. There seems to be loads of women's matches in the past couple of weeks, where there seems to be more breaks than holds, like notably more than usual. I think Anna has been involved in a few.

Then Liam and Lloyd wouldn't be nominated yet either, both nominations were based on results previously leading into the 1st week of November where they consolidated or built on results from October. It's just a bit of fun and with such slim pickings seeing people push on and learn is as valid a reason to select them as a top player winning a tournament.  If it wasn't we'd have the same few players nominated and winning every month. I tend to vote based on whether there has been progression.

So contrary to Heathers claim (I like Heather but that was defo more about taking the heat off her performance) it now appears as though we have 2 youngsters that can make an impact.

Jasmine is definitely a youngster at 16 but Anna is already 23.That makes her just one year younger  than Harriet and Katie B. and 18 months older than Katie Swan.  However players don't all peak at the same age.

Liam reached a challenger final in November, with 2 or 3 wins as an underdog, so that alone should be enough to get a nomination for November, and I'd imagine that would be at the forefront of the snapshot of the monthly review, and he'll probably be a contender.

Lloyd reached a few doubles finals in October and was nominated for that month. I'm not sure who nominated him this month, and he does have another final, but I personally wouldn't expect people to vote for him at the end of November for doing something on the on the 7th October, similarly I wouldn't expect Dean Smith to get any credit for Villa beating Liverpool 7-2 on Oct 4th in November's MotM nominations, although if he had another solid month, it may make him stand out a bit.

Anyway, everyone has there reasons for nominating players, and just a bit of fun as you say. Let's hope Jasmine can have continue her run a bit more here, and continue to back up her solid October.
