Not sure what has happened to Barry Millns. Took over commentary from Catherine Whitaker on ES Player, muttered about 3 lines, and has been away for about 20 odd mins.
You know, Gauff's results are exceptional for her age, but I've yet to be impressed while watching her. She does have incredible self-belief and fight, I'll give her that, but Jo should see this as a missed opportunity.
Yes that was what I did. Put my money quite literally on a Gauff win. Actually the only bet I've done all year. Did not sound like very pleasant playing conditions at all.

Seeing Gauff live was amazingly impressive (especially for her age, of course, but even without).
However, I completely agree - that was a really disappointing match from Jo, from a top 10 seed, just nothing to be pleased with about that match.
Simon Briggs in the Telegraph wrote that Jo does seem to be missing the gentle support of Dimitri Zavialoff. His departure during Covid 19 lockdown was a result of his own personal circumstances
Will be interesting to see if Jo turns up in Ostrava or just calls it a year.
Interesting question. She called last year over early because of her knee trouble. The previous year she played in Moscow to give her new coach Zavriloff a try out which proved more sucessful than Hogstedt. This time last year there was no CovId 19 impacting on the world. If she pulls out of Ostrava and the Australian circuit is cancelled or restricted then Jo is going to be months without playing. The ATP is better organised than the WTA.That is an issue Billie Jean King should be questioned about particularly as she turns up everywhere.

I agree on that. The fact that WTA season is basically done - due to their over-reliance on an Asian market is appalling.

I agree with the view on the WTA Calendar, but not sure what BJK role is in that? I dont she has a role in the WTA? She may have a view on it and may be critical, I dont know, but I dont think she can take any responsibility?
