Forgive me, I am way behind, when is Heather due to play her first round?

I think  she is due to play on Tuesday. Heather 's appearance in Paris seems to be running under the radar and has had virtually no mention. At the moment British women only have 3 wins in the Grand Slams singles this year.Hope Heather can add to the total. Mention is made of Jo only winning one match in 3 Grand Slams in 2020 as opposed to 14 in 4 Grand Slams in 2019.However it's forgotten now that Jo only won 2  singles matches in the four, 2018 Grand Slams.

Will be interesting to see if Jo turns up in Ostrava or just calls it a year.

Interesting question. She called last year over early because of her knee trouble. The previous year she played in Moscow to give her new coach Zavriloff  a try out  which proved more sucessful than Hogstedt. This time last year there was no CovId 19 impacting  on the world. If she pulls out  of Ostrava  and the Australian circuit is cancelled or restricted then Jo is going to be months without playing. The ATP is better organised  than the WTA.That is an issue Billie Jean King should be questioned about particularly as she turns up everywhere.

I agree with the view on the WTA Calendar, but not sure what BJK role is in that? I dont she has a role in the WTA? She may have a view on it and may be critical, I dont know, but I dont think she can take any responsibility?

Presumably whoever the WTA chief is,is responsible.. It' s Steve Simon these days and it used to be Stacey Allister. For sure with no tournaments women and their teams  won't be making any money playing tennis.

The withdrawal date for the W25 in Cherbourg is not until tomorrow, but such is the scarcity of tournaments that the main draw cut-off is WR161 and qualifying WR216 at the moment. Only Harriet in the main draw and Sam in qualifying are in so far, but there are 15 ranked GB women listed in the alternates, from Fran at 27 to Olivia at 358 !!

I'll post a list in the entries thread after the withdrawal deadline, but looking pretty dismal right now.

Edit:- I should add that that there are 13 GB women entered in the W15 at Funchal, so there may be some luck there !

I see Vondrousova who beat Jo in last year's semi final lost in the first round this year 6-1 6-2 to Iga Swiatek. With Barty absent , Anisimova is the only one of last years semi finalists to win a match this year.

Just about all our top player (apart from Jo and Heather) have entered but the standard is so high that they are all languishing in the Alts. The last player in qualifying is ranked 216. However with the infection rate in France high at present there is every likelihood that the tournamen will be cancelled.

Heather vs Fiona Ferro is scheduled 2nd on Court 14 on Tuesday, following Humbert vs Polmans men's R1 match due from 9 am BST.

One multiple Grand Slam champion and one Grand Slam runner up have also gone out in the 1st round. That's Angie Kerber who's gone out to Kaja Juvan and Madison Keys who lost to Shuai Zhang.

If Heather doesn't win her singles match against Ferro then all  the British players will have lost in the 1st round singles. The closest Britain has come to a winner was Aljaz Bedene who won his match but is now back representing Slovenia.

Late night tennis in Paris. Young WC Burel a break up in the decider against Rus after sharing TB sets. I thought I read somewhere that there was an 11pm cut off / curfew, but seemingly not. Hopefully they'll get the chance to finish tonight. Looking like 1-1

Burel won it 6-3 in the 3rd after 2 hours and 57 minutes. OK, it turned out to be a long match but it was very late to start it in the first place. And it appears to be a match in the half of the draw that will not play its R2 until Thursday. Strange.

I hadn't realised that they can appatently light all the courts this year. If that means that they can light Chatrier without closing the roof I would have kess issues with the orgamisers scheduling five matches on Chatrier. As I said in the Jo Konta thread, I don't think that they should schedule more than four if it means a likely roof closure

Nice match so far but Ferro really does look to have the edge

An early break lead cancelled out *3-4
