Worth someone starting a thread for it, but interesting draw for Harriet. One of the more accomplished players in the draw (Buzarnescu), certainly in terms of recent CH, but she's only played 1 match this year, and hasn't won for over a year. Career definitely went off track following that injury against Svitolina in a North American P5 prior to the 2018 US Open
Harriet has Buzarnescu in the 1st round. Her opponent was a late developer and was ranked 24 at year end 2018. She won 1 WTA title in 2018 and was runner up in 2 others .Then she suffered a serious injury.
Sam has Arina Rodionova and then the winner plays Zvonareva possibly.
I think there are 11 Americans in qualifying including Coco Gauff's doubles partner Caty McNally. There are also two former grand slam runners up in Errani and Zvonareva.
Jo has got Coco Gauff 1st round. Seeded 9 as Bencic pulled out.
Winnable on clay one would think?
And Heather has Ferro. That could be tough.
I think we can safely say Jo is not going to match last years semi final. Gauff's main problem at the moment is double faults without the aces.15 against Muguruza in Rome and 13 against Sevastova in New York. Didn't Ferro miss the US Open with injury and Heather was unwell,,in her last tournament. Ferro won Palermo on clay and has not played since. They met in Hobart and Brisbane this year and both times Heather won.
