Nightmare draw for Jo. Cocchainetto (sorry sure spelling is wrong) has done very well recently, I think jo could struggle there and then Muguruza or Gauff.

Dont see Jo getting past a round here.

She's already past R1 with no effort whatsoever

And after that it can be rather difficult to predict Jo these days.

Muguruza has get through Sloane Stephens first which is no means easy either - both streaky players at the best of times

I think the player is Cocciaretto not Cocchainetto. It might well happen she plays Jo, but she has to beat her opponent who is a qualifier in the 1st round.

Elisabetta Cocciaretto WR144, age 19

Runner up Prague WTA 125
Quarter Final Palermo as WC, lost to Kontaveit in 3 sets.

Not to be under-estimated

Will Jo keep the better of ranking points of reaching the final in Rome in 2019 or what she achieves here ?(I assume she won't be getting anywhere near the final this year) Will the same apply in Paris? Where this is all going to unravel is at some stage in 2021.

That's certainly the case for the men - they don't drop points, only earn them so I imagine it's the same for the WTA because to do anything else would be c***

It's the same. No-one can actually lose points for the remainder of 2020.

Noted. And noting her record, she is talented and I'd say I'd predict her to give jo a tough battle if they play.

Thanks, fw and indy.
No one can lose points in 2020.
That's the sort of simple thing I can remember !

Just to confuse things, rumour has it that if Djokovics default had happened 1 round later thus equalling his US Open result last year then he would have lost points, not usre how true that is though and it is an exceptional circumstance.
