Lanzarote $25k+H

Bogdanovic, Parmar, Lee, Bloomfield and Baker all made the main draw.

Round 1:

4 Alex Bogdanovic vs Uros Vico (Ita) WR 220
Arvind Parmar vs Martin Lee
Richard Bloomfield vs 6 Gilles Elseneer (Bel) WR 155
Jamie Baker vs Igor Kunitsyn (Rus) WR 110 (tough one for Jamie)

Qualifying:

Adam Lownsbrough didn't disappoint - another double bagle from Adrian Menendez WR 456 in round 1.
Johnny Marray had a bye in round one and then beat Scott Schnugg (USA) 7-6(5), 6-4. He plays Michael Ryderstedt WR 349 for a place in the main draw.

At least Nathaliia will be pleased.

Jonny's now out of the top 450, he's stepped down to futures level and is playing a series of tournaments in Greece where he will be one of the top seeds, hopefully he can string some wins together then.

Re main draw:

Horrible draws for Richard and Jamie. Kunistyn's at a career high of 110, he qualified for Miami, reached semis of Talahasee Challenger. He did lose in rd1 of cardiff though. He's the highest ranked player Jamie will have played so far.

Elseneer has a massive serve, I reckon he'll beat Richard in straights as he's got a more powerful baseline game. Richard's lined up for a number of challengers in coming weeks which is great.

Parmar v Lee will be an interesting match, they've been rivals since they were juniors. Lee leads 3-2 on head-to-head but 4 of those matches were in 2001 or earlier. Parmar won in the Nottingham grass-court challenger last July , 7-5, 6-1 in rd1. My money's on Lee though.

It was tough ask.  Looks as if Jamie made it pretty competitive at least.

How comes Bogdanovic has so many matches where his opponent retires?
