When the qf draws go up today, note, the action starts to get serious. Nowhere to hide. Target is to pop em up for around 2.30 ish today. Therell be nowhere to hide for the last 16 (in fact 17).
Maybe 1 thing to change s putting the doubles partners in the same group against each other or alternatively put them in as a team so one entry. It's a shame that Neal has gone out but Jamie is still in there when a number of us suspect that it was Jamie that was the weak link in that partnership.

True I considered it. Id done it for player of month, but Jamie and neal had done a couple of months apart in summer when Jamie focused on battle of brits and neal was one of the top players in world team tennis , so I took call to separate them.
can consider it for next year. Not sure how many pairs actually go together fully as a two some , though, below jamie and neal? Alfie and gordon maybe but Alfie and Gordon also did a lot in singles and so I felt had separate portfolios of work.
I guess if neal had Jamies draw hed have got through - but there would have been mayhem having a scouser in a group with a Mancunian!
In fact Id have argued neal had a better year than Jamie, with those world team tennis results for neal trumping Jamie who mainly organised some stuff outside of his pairing with neal. But Jamie landed the softer draw , sadly for neal. Neal was probably the main round one casualty , sadly.
As an aside, as one group had a tie, between Harriet and Matilda, there will be 3 groups of 4 and one of 5 in the next round. Harriet
Or Matilda will go into the 5 group, randomly.
All players from same round one groups kept apart this afternoon.
I think some of it is name recognition, maybe next year doubles teams get a nom as a pair and seperate nom individually or go up against each other in the same group
Naomi Broady
Jack Draper
Sam Murray-Sharan
Will Nolan
Neal Skupski
Stuart Parker
Grace Piper
Of those, Sam Murray-Sharan was a player of the month winner back in March, I think she was the only PoM faller early doors. Albeit Sams title was in a curtailed month at the start of Covid restrictions and possibly the weakest of the months.
Day two "players out" list will be published later

Looking at my diary today, going to close this a bit later, probably around 12.15 instead , so a little longer than broadcast originally. Might fluctuate from that even!
one question as we get to the nub of this - do people vote on their favourite or are they being truly objective and saying who has had the best season?! The two things of course may be impossible to separate in someones mind?!
And it actually doesnt matter - but I am interested nonetheless in the psychology!
I had my Male and Female favs in the same group, as a woman if it had been close then Harriet would've been my pick but luckily for me the form book clearly said No so in my case form over fav.
