7 players in player of season poll wont have had a player of month nomination but have achieved quietly behind the scenes. See if you spot them when the polls go up.
And here is the final list of nominations for Player of the Month over the season: Congrats to Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski who both got 5 (out of a max of 8) , 4 of them together, 1 separately. And to Billy Harris and Joe Salisbury who both got 4. I will let Bob give Billy his award when he next sees him

I dont think any of those would have won the player of season but in case of Lloyd certainly and maybe the others quite possibly would have deserved a place on the voting. But they didnt tick the boxes and get in, like real tennis world I guess!
So, the player of the season polls will be coming out this evening.
Each group will have 4 players, and the first 4 groups will go up tonight, 4 tomorrow, and then each round over each evening of the rest of the week through to the final 4 players on Friday night/Saturday.
For each player I have done a short write up. It is to the best of my knowledge and with no intent at any bias (taking it from ATP, WTA, ITF and Scoreboard.com). The wins/loss stats I have put up for each account not just for WTA, ATP, ITF but also through the lock down months and the various Brits, Pro Series, British Tour etc events that don't appear in those stats. So they are manually calculated and therefore may not be accurate. I am sure some folks will check their favourites, if you do and my maths is wrong ( I tried to do 32 players and get tired!) then shout and I will amend accordingly and for future rounds.
I also haven't gone into depth on rankings of players beaten by individuals ie they beat the WR 126 and where only ranked 500 at the time, what a win , type stuff. I am sure there are many players with great wins and losses, and lots of colour to be added to please add to my comments with anything you wish to add
However, the stats are just for information so if any prove wrong I wont take responsibility if it impacts your vote - voter beware and all that, so please do your own research if you wish to and make up your own minds!
Also, someone has asked me on what criteria should they vote - it is down to you entirely! Player of the Season can mean different things to each person - highest ranked, best single tournie of the season, best win of the season, most improved, someone who surprised you the most, someone who was the biggest personality, someone who went above and beyond the playing side. We have players that tick many of those boxes and all, each player in the vote ticks one box or another, I feel.
If we didnt vote, we would annoint and I doubt we would ever agree as a group - so the voting is a great way of working out a consensus and the groups designed to whittle it all down to one person.
More than anything, the voting should be fun - and I love to read what people think or why they vote so would love to get people saying their thoughts as we go through the process over the next few days!
Finally, in each group of 4, the top 2 will go through. If we have ties for those places, I will look to take all ties through...the run offs can be fun but limited folks are around at 11 pm at night and probably not fair - and this is very important () to get right! So no run offs, just multiple ties will all survive to go through - however, there is an exception. In our March/April player of the month poll, the winner got all the votes and no one else scored at all. If that happens here, everyone with zero votes will get knocked out. This is player of the season vote and I dont think someone getting zero votes deserves to stay in the competition, so all zero voted participants will be knocked out. However, I dont think it is very likely that we will get a group where all the votes go to the same player - not likely, but possible
Finally, finally. We have mens, womens, doubles specialists, Main ATP/WTA tour, ITF level, juniors and wheelchair players in this vote. I have tried very hard to ensure that "like" players are largely kept apart. With 32 players it is probably impossible but I have tried and , think, I have done a pretty decent job of it.
I also have tried to ensure that winners and runners up in past player of the months polls are nicely spread through the groups and also players from categories like "most tournie wins" etc are spread apart.
It is quite a juggling act but largely has worked out ok with pretty even groups of "types" of players and serious contenders!
But just in case you see two players you would put in the same category, remember it is not an exact science and what we have is still probably better than a completely random draw.
And finally, finally, finally - the groups will be listed in surname alphabetical order - I don't want to infer bias or seedings in any of the listings, so hopefully I will get them all ordered nice and alphabetically!
Thanks so much for doing this, little sparks in a currently dull life are so important
Thank you Christine - I enjoy it , to be honest, and it amuses me. Ever since I was young I have created fantasy events and competitions. I remember first doing it in 1978 (I have the records somewhere on a yellowing scrap of A4 paper) when I gave my own points to mens tournaments on the Grand Prix (as it was) circuit and have maintained various "fantasy" events and rankings since. I am now 55, I was 13 then, so 42 years! But they are largely for my own amusement, my wife thinks I am just messing and wasting time - she is probably correct. The main thing I often do is create fantasy draws for events and then use H2H stats, last match played on that surface etc to work through the draw. All a bit of fun.
But this is something much more interesting as it involves other people and their thoughts and is thus much less predictable and open to real thoughts and processes. I enjoyed the polls we did in March and April a lot and if I can think of ideas, will keep the process going into the future in some form or other...looks like we may need it!!
It's so important to keep our brains going in ways that we enjoy and which challenge us, and you've found a way to do it which entertains us too! Well done!
