Weeks 35/36 - US Open, Flushing Meadows, New York City (hard)

Kyle lost the first set 2-6 and Bublik was playing really well. He stuck with him during the second set and then snatched it to win it 7-5 and 1 set all.
Feeling like a long night....

After a tense final game (four deuces), Kyle wins the 3rd set 7-5. Bublik served at 5-4 but essentially choked and let Kyle back in. Some really odd shots from Bublik at times but Kyle has stuck in and is now 2 sets to one ahead.

Kyle breaks early in the 4th set and follows with a love hold.

3-0* is just one break but he is hopefully seeing this home now.

A really good performance and result for Kyle against a talented but brittle opponent.

He wins the last 9 games of the match to win 2-6, 7-5, 7-5, 6-0.

And so to bed.....

Yay !

Djokovic meantime is closing in on the reward of a R2 meeting with Kyle. 6-1 6-4 *4-1 up on Dzumhur.

Excellent Kyle, I went to bed at one set down and feared the worst!

Brilliant! I woke up several times and checked the score! Great to see Kyle got the win.
Let's hope he can get the better of Djoko!!

Have to say I am really enjoying being able to wake up and watch replays of matches I don't know the score of on Prime. You can sort of work out how many sets there will be by length of broadcast but its great. Could really do with a highlights package for the main matches though (I'm sure they did that before?)

"Edmund, 25, faces a tough task to reach the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in seven attempts, however, with 17-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic lying in wait in round two."
BBC report today !! Really, and they still haven't corrected it. One of the main tennis reporters efforts too. Shocking really.

I watched the first and a bit of the 2nd. Id seen enough to think Kyle could come back into it. Mostly that Bublik was playing such a high level that it was going to drop at some point. Tough 2nd round opponent Ive heard!
