OK, good one, so what are the real odds for Federer and Nadal ?
They should really be strong odds on, not slight odds against.
Actually, I think the problem may be interpreting the info from whatever site you got these odds from. Sometimes they express figures that basically show the total you get back including stake, so you have to take stake ( = 1 ) off.
If you took 1 off each set of odds you would have :
Federer ( 2/25 ) v Gonzalez ( 6/1 )
Nadal ( 3/25 ) v Gaudio ( 9/2 )
which are more like it.
See Day 5, Federer was 1/10 and Nadal 1/6.
PS : I am sorry that I just seem to come on to Superhoops tc correct without setting myself up. But I have been a bit busy the last week or so, and will be over the next few weeks so would only be ever able to do odds and score on some days.
Madeline wrote: It is all greek to me! At those odds, I'm not betting at all as I can't see anybody but Fed and Rafa winning (injuries excepted). Mkk, you are pushing the boat out, aren't you?
I know...being a bit daft really because i can only stand to gain 9 pounds (but at the original odds it was much more!)
Ok i didn't know that (they were expressed as 1.08 and 1.12 so i just converted it to a fraction to keep in with the trend. So you're sure, then? I've changed the odds by taking one off (also for gaudio and gonzalez from 7/1 and 11/2 respectively)
Yep, I'm even more sure that it's just as I said ( and what you've now changed the odds to ), now that I know they were expressed as 1.08, 1.12 etc . That's commonly how the rates including stakes are expressed i.e. as decimal amounts ( including stakes ) : 1.
Now, if you ever really find Federer or Nadal quoted odds against ( i.e. that you can make winnings of more than your stake ) playing against anyone else other than each other on clay, then feel free to contact me immediately with the bookie's name and number
