Hmm, surprised Lissey not awarded a WC , unless she pulled out at the last minute. The font size of Emily Arbs name , compared to the others, makes me think it was a slot-in for a prior entry. But I may be wrong.
So Holly ends up being 1st alternate with 16 points and Emily Arb is in as a WC ( with 15 points), but it's the organisers decision who gets the WC.

It's just to fit her surname in the space , mark Whitehouse is the same on the mens...no conspiracy theory !

Maybe. But still think Lissey pulled out and next WC went to Arb.

No idea, but dont think the font size was anything strange, whether it happened or  not re Lisseysmile

What do people think about the 2 groups, perception wise, not just in terms of rankings?

Harriet, Jodie, and Emma should really be a level above (on paper), and 2 obviously had to be in one group, so Harriet will be quite pleased that she's in the other group, although saying that, there'll be a good chance that she has to play one of the 'big 3' in the semi final (and the other in the final), whereas if they qualify, either Jodie or Emma would get a 486+ player in the semi final, but I think the rest of A is perhaps stronger. Eden and Naomi will probably bring a similar, solid level, and Sonay is kind of a lesser known, interesting prospect. Freya probably the most inconsistent player in the entire field, but is capable of getting the odd decent win. Whereas in the other group, Nadia will probably struggle, and Beth, Emily Ap, and Eliz have kind of all exchanged wins at SGH - I think Eliz is actually 3-1 in the H2Hs here against both of them, so they'll possibly all have a similar level, but probably not enough to really challenge the top 2, whereas I think a couple in the other group (after Harriet) could have been more of a threat in the group, if that makes sense.

It'll be really interesting to see who makes it out of Group A.

The original rules stated that only one 18 and under player was permitted in each event. I understand that is because streaming companies pay the organisers proportionately less for each match involving a junior because of betting restrictions involving juniors. So having given one wild card to Emma they would not want to give another to Holly.

Ok. That makes sense. Which means even if someone pulls out mid week then Holly can't be an alternate to come in due to this rule.

I would also imagine that with Holly recently committing to Vanderbilt,  there might be some NCAA eligibility student athlete rules about how much money you can earn in tournaments.  Whatever you earn should only cover expenses  I think.  Looking at the winning table that was shared Holly was on about $6k ... Which might be a tad more than the expenses incurred for two weeks,  unless staying in a five star hotel or so. And the money pool for Classic Week is significantly higher.

I remember Paul Jubb not being able to collect his winnings sone time ago at a tournament because of the rules.

The thing is, in Week 2 when there were a lot of other event running alongside it, they had Holly, Charlotte, and Amelia R all competing who are all 18 and under. Holly is 4 months younger than Amelia and her birthday is October, so after the September school cut off date, so that may have had something to do with it?

If she can't benefit from her prize money then it probably is for the best if it can go to someone who can, because it obviouly is serious money for the level.

The best coverage is on YouTube on the LTA channel. I'd post the exact links later when the streams start, but here is the general link

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKJN7p1npGyVCOqJ0sgbzUg

The coverage is also available on the LTA Facebook page, but I have found that it is prone to buffering, so the YouTube streams are much, much better

I don't know of any other coverage, other than on betting sites

I read something about it being on Eurosport player during the week and then from Friday its on FreeSports. It is showing on the FreeSports schedule. FreeSports is available on Freeview although I know some older receivers cant get it.

It'll be interesting to see how that goes on Friday with it just being on one channel, and how they'll split the coverage, whether they'll split the coverage for 3 women's and 3 men's, or just pick and choose how they see fit.

Is anyone currently watching on Eurosport Player? I've had it annually for years, but cancelled after the AO because I missed the £19.99 offer and thought I'd just but it individual months for the slams this year, so just YouTube for me. If so, is it any different? Cameras, production, commentators etc.

On a different note, I've still not seen one reference of the WCs across any form of their social media yet, just quietly added to the OOP. You'd have thought they might have had something like 'delighted to welcome Harriet Dart who made Wimbledon R3 last year', or something about Emma's potential. I still don't know if Emily Arb is even officially considered a WC or next in, either via a mistake or potential Holly ineligibility.

Surely theres too much money at stake to have made a mistake...

Well it doesn't really matter anyway because it was *always 9 directly and 3 WCs, the 10th place player was never guaranteed, but if they thought Emily had finished 10th, they could have just said next in, instead of allocating the WC, to make it seem like they were rewarding the 10 top scoring players.

If you look at the standings at the bottom of Week 3 ('Live stream' section) Holly is still wrongly shown as being on 6 points in the total column, so if they simply added 8 points to that it would have been 14 instead of 16, and behind Emily's 15, but they still haven't updated the week 5 table, so we still don't know if they actually have Emily in 10th place overall, or 11th, and in via the WC. Just goes back to the lack of info and clarity which has been prevalent throughout the series.

But the general lack of announcing Harriet and Emma in any official statement, tweet, story, post, website article etc. is pretty strange.

* well not 'always' as there was initial confusion as it earlier said top 10 scorers, but 3 WCs in the next bullet point, so nobody on here knew if it was 2 or 3 WCs until it was eventually cleared up in the middle of last week.
