Naive question- why did they choose to play the tournament indoors? LTA advice is to play outside and data has shown less likely to transmit virus outside.

I believe I read that the decision to play indoors was something to do with the requirements for televising the event.  Once again the needs of tv take precedence over the well being of the players who would clearly be safer playing outdoors.  I believe the British Tour events will be played outdoors on hard courts.

Not changing ends would be a bit unfair outdoors as well but not much problem indoors?

There's also the fact that the tournament is aiming to raise a minimum of £100,000 for NHS Charities Together.  I don't see how we can quibble too much with that.

Thanks all for taking the time to repl. Yes, I thought that as I was watching the Norrie/Peniston match, had forgotten about the not changing ends....

I wonder who will replace him. looks like Aidan McHugh is there however Lloyd is above him in the ranking. I assume it will be one of those.

Wrong!  Just announced by Annabel Croft on Amazon:  'twill be Paul Jubb.  biggrin

Pity about the injuries but pleased that Paul Jubb is going to get a run out.

Thanks, brittak.

I don't get Amazon Prime but I've now gone and looked at Bet365 (which I should have done before I posted, I guess..... sheer laziness....) and - YEH! - it's on Bet365.

So this afternoon has suddenly got perked up (not that it was too terrible anyway - love hot weather).

Thanks again, B.

PS I know he's been out for a while but it's not often that anyone could get odds of 1.5 on Andy to beat Liam (no offence to Liam either, but that seems a bit generous, no?)

Great to see the bookies WELL wrong, as expected/hoped biggrin

Andy at 1.5 in decimal odds was still 1/2 odds on in 'old money'. Certainly much longer than you would ever see with a fully fit and match sharp Andy vs Liam, and arguably still looking a bit long though with clearly a few uncertainties coming into this event. But the bookies still had the right winner.

Andy's match vs James, to determine which of them joins Kyle in making the SFs from the Tim Henman Group, is scheduled for Thursday

Today's order of play

Doubles comes to the group conclusion.

Ryan v Jubby should be interesting, dan v cam a good match to decide who likely tops that group, and winner of andy and wardy will get into the semis .

Main question for me is can Andy recover from yesterday in time?

In the doubles, J Murray & N Skupski need to beat Evans & Glasspool to survive and make it a 3 way one win one loss tie.

The first 2 matches in the group have gone to a MTB so if Jamie & Neal win in straight sets they would win the group with Broady & Norrie being 2nd. If they win with another MTB we are into % games won comparisons among the 3 pairs. Much simpler if Evans & Glasspool win as they'ed then clearly win the group with Broady & Norrie 2nd.

First doubles on though is O'Mara & Salisbury vs Edmund & Ward ( I'm sticking to the long held tradition of the first named player in a pair having the first surname in the alphabet, as opposed to the OoP ). Each of these pairs having won their opener, this match will determine 1st and 2nd in that group.

Another nail-biter for Joe & Jonny, but they got there in the end:

Doubles/Sabin Group - RR2: Jonny O'Mara & Joe Salisbury defeated Kyle Edmund & (ALT) James Ward by 6-2 5-7 [10-5]

Good to see the LTA powers that be taking notice of Paul & involving him in an event like this.
