Big shame for the event that Draper is out, he was one of the players I was most looking forward to watching.

Hope whatever is bothering him improved soon.

Abdominal strain from what I am reading.  I hope it's not serious and that he has withdrawn just as a precaution.

Cheers. Yeah, not worth risking in that case (if it is just a precaution) He has seemed to have had his fair share of injuries since bursting on the scenes at Jr Wimbledon 2 years ago.

Hearing Andy on the radio he seemed less than convincing about his pelvic bone problem. He was maybe going to have another op dependng on how things had gone at the ultimately cancelled Miami Open. Now with the further time off and training he says that his hip feels better. But I get the impression that it's kind of still to an extent 'let's see how things go'.

Hopefully it goes well.

My goodness . So brilliant to have tennis to watch. Last time I saw Dan play was Melbourne - not quite at his best there though.

second best if I remember correctly. someone added up the 10 doubles rankings of every country, we came 2nd to the US. We were very close.

it really came down to the difference between the 9th and 10th ranked doubles players; if they had been in the top 100 we would be in contention for the top place.

I think Strongbow calculated at my behest, so I probably take the blame for that analysis! It was in the Strongest Nations thread

Naive question- why did they choose to play the tournament indoors? LTA advice is to play outside and data has shown less likely to transmit virus outside.

Am I correct in thinking that that scoreline gives Andy a slight edge over Kyle in their group on the basis of games won/lost?

I believe I read that the decision to play indoors was something to do with the requirements for televising the event.  Once again the needs of tv take precedence over the well being of the players who would clearly be safer playing outdoors.  I believe the British Tour events will be played outdoors on hard courts.

What is the format? Is it the usual top 2 go through, and group winner plays the other runner up in the semi final, or is it just groups winners advance?

Without wanting to write the other lads off too early, it was always likely going to come down to the top 100 lads (I'm including Andy in that - although I guess his level would have been interesting talking point coming into it), with the others making the numbers up. Jack would have been an interesting addition, and I was originally looking forward to his match with Norrie tomorrow (probably the most out of all the groups matches), as that could have been a top 2 decider, and it would would have been good to see to see how he matched up to someone at a level where we'd all like him to get to in the next year or two (even if this isn't necessarily the type of tournament to make those comparisons).

I guess there was a surprise in the doubles earlier, so we can't take anything for granted in, especially after 3 months off, but 13 games combined between the 'opponents' isn't a great sign, and you can't really see Peniston changing that, but good luck to them all.

yeah, its top two through and then winner plays RU in semis.

Not sure of tie breaks, presumably like the ATP Finals, ie h2h, then matches played, sets diff, games diff.
