How soon we forget who has won a "won a full WTA title?".

In 2017, Anna Smith's Nurnberg title (May), was after Johanna Miami title (March/April)
Both of those are older than Naomi's 2018 Monterrey title though, which remains the last full WTA title that a British woman has won, to date.

Hoping Heather can refresh the counter again here.

Gosh, I didnt even recall anna Smith playing singles !

She did play singles, especially before her first injury, when she looked such a good prospect.
However, her full WTA title was not in singles/

I also neglected to mention that Heather also won a full WTA title in 2018, in Acapulco, the week prior to Naomi's triumph.

Did she? Wiki doesn't mention that one at all. It shows Monterrey 2016 and then Tianjin 2019 as her next final.

I've just realised you're talking doubles titles!

I was talking about "full WTA title[s]" as stated in the original question.

Before Heather won in Stanford, and then Osaka, it was over 30 years since we had won any WTA title of any description - or even, for that matter, reached a WTA final of any description despite the sterling progress made by Bally & Annie K.

Heather thus made the long overdue reset of the clock for both formats of the game.

Since then we have managed to win a title every six months or so - an unprecedented haul. Even in singles, it's about one just over a year between Heather & Johanna's successes.

We're in a golden period at WTA level. Such should be the norm for a country such as ours, but our national apathy pretty much ensures it never will be.

Our WTA titles are so few and far between that to so easily minimise any of them seems unhelpful to me.

But, yes, if one wishes to reframe the original question in different terms, to only recognise singles titles, then Johanna, in 2017, was the last one.

Ok....points fairly made. I suspect the original question was aimed at singles wins, but no matter.

Different match now, Fernandez has settled down. 2nd chance for Hev to serve it out. *5-4.

Over the line though, 6-4. I was fearing the worst after that DF on the opening point.

Yes, she made it over the line, but not as straightforward as score suggests. Strong in the second right now though.

I know its not unusual, but I still find it so disappointing to see largely empty stands at a WTA final.

2-0* to *2-3, and was broken from 40-0* in the last service game.
