Looking at the last 16, you'd think this was a strong W60 / normal W100. Only seeds 6, 7, and 8 remain, and pretty much everyone will have played at least one ITF event within the last 6 months. Heather is the 7th seed, and Katie plays the 6th seed, but there's no obvious favourite left. In fact, someone (not me, ha) always put the pre tournament outright odds up on TF, and 11 of the top 16 favourites (excluding qualifiers) have bitten the dust already.
Another abysmal defeat for Sloane Stephens, this time against potential Mexican FC opponent.
Last year the semi finals were
Kenin vs Andreescu
Vekic vs Y Wang (,who went on to take the title)

For what it is worth, tennis abstract have Heather as their favourite to win the event, albeit there are several players very close to her and she is only circa 12 per cent chance. Ie wide open!
Nice to see wins for both our ladies.
Dunno what has happened to Sloane though - never the most consistent of players it's true but she seems to have fallen off a cliff the past few months and seemingly can't buy a win.

Hev takes her tie-break by the same score 7-2. Match swinging one way then the other. Should come through though, if she can sort out that second serve.
