Week 8 - WTA International ($250k) - Acapulco, Mexico - Hard

Heather could be on a little sooner than expected. Katie's conqueror Zhu is 2-6 *2-5 down to her qualifying compatriot Wang Xiyu, and Heather will follow that match.

Yep, broken to love 2-6 2-6 in 1 hr 1 min, so Heather on in the next few mins, and Xiyu will be who the winner faces in the semi finals.

Wang beats Zhu 6-2 6-2 - so Hev could be on soon.

Showing as "live" so probably warming-up.

Whew , McHale vs Watson is giving me flashbacks to 2011(?) when they played two really close 3 set matches on clay which McHale won. It felt like they both had potential to become top 20/30 players at the time (McHale did get into top 30 I think), weird how things work out. I also feel like this is the only place I could admit I can even remember such matches so thanks guys hahaha

Hev won first set 6-3. First serve and...forehand(!) both look really good.

That was super from Heather. I only watched the last set, but I thought she played really well. A couple of her shots (a dropshot and a passing shot) really made me smile.

Potapova now heads up tennis abstracts likely winner list, heather slips to 2nd. Kinder draw in top half.

Potapova has dropped the first set 3-6 against Fernandez and is a break down in the second.

The back of my envelope reckons that this is now the most consistent 6 month period of Heather's career at WTA level.
Well done her.

But which came first, the smile or the winning? another Brit who performs at her best when she has a happy home life.
