Week 8 - ITF (W25) Sunderland, GBR Hard

Emma has also had from memory a couple of injuries at quite a young age. I remember seeing her playing heavily strapped. A lot of our other young players have had a series of niggling or more serious injuries: Katie Swan, Jodie, Katie Boulter, Laura obviously. Maybe they're also being a bit sensible and not putting too much strain on her body while she's still been growing and getting stronger.

Having balance in her life is sensible in my view and probably takes some of the pressure off as she's got something to fall back on. Tennis players can these days have quite long careers and from a fan's perspective I don't necessarily think it's brilliant to have the youngest player winning everything. I quite enjoy seeing players' careers develop over time.

That's brilliant news. Hope it's a decent field, with plenty of British interest.

It was really well ran last year, with constant video updates, and temporary stands towards the end of the week, and decent crowds as well.
