Emma really getting after the second serve and breaks as Tauson is getting frustrated and struggling with her ball toss.
Yes you're right, Emma's trying to stay away more from her forehad... First set to Emma and key advantage 6-4.
Emma's strengths are not so noticeable at first, but her advantage at the end of this set was her greater diversity of play, and her intelligent use of her range of shots.

Emma is playing pretty well but Tauson has a bit of an attitude problem. Soemthing she may well mature out of over time.
Very good win by Emma. Let's hope this can be a springboard to a climb up the rankings depending upon how much she plays.
OER forecast for 16th March suggest that Emma will climb to around WR333 when the points go on. Could be slightly less of a climb, depending on the results of others.
More importanly, Emma will be GB #10, which will make a difference in the predictions competition (but not when I run it after Monday's rankings are published)

Yes next week Maia falls out of the top 10 and Katy D will replace her, but now it will be only for one week, with Emma taking over the following week. Emma will then also be within 5 pts of Mandy and 11 pts of Fran. So if she were to win tomorrow - which I think will be very tough for her to do, but by no means impossible the way she is playing - she would then become GB #8.
Good win for Emma against a bit of a bogey opponent (lost three times to her in junior ITFs, including one final and one Grand Slam, and ran away with the final set on each occasion)
And she's got a very good chance tomorrow - unless nerves or whatever get to her - Tomova was not that impressive, often on the back foot in the first set, took advantage of Sam's mistakes in the second well, but not a particularly good performance overall.
