Weeks 3/4 - Australian Open, Melbourne (hard)

So many mis-hits its wild. But hes not the only one having a shocker, turned onto Coric vs Querrey and the commentator just said that Coric was playing awful and ordinary people could do better. Refreshing honest!

Not looking too good for Dan at the moment:  3-6 4-6.    Has he ever come back from two sets down in a five-setter before?

Apparently not, as far I can see.

Hopefully today then.

3-6 4-6 *4-0

*5-1

Bet365 now have Dan as very slight favourite to win the match. 4/5 against evens.

That bloody hail storm meant I had to work today.
Hopefully he wins and I can get there on Wednesday

Fifth set was a bit shambolic but otherwise a comfortable win after being 2 sets down.

Actually, from the court side it was never in doubt . I stood for the whole thing right by the service line. Brilliant.

the BBC seem to have changed Dans full name ?? It used to be Dan returned from a one year ban for taking cocaine Evans. Now he has been rebranded as Dan 30th seed Evans, Which Im delighted about as its a lot easier to say :)

The Beeb's now confirming that - the 15th time of asking, apparently.  Wonderful news to wake up to!  biggrin  The full story:

L128:  (30) Daniel Evans WR 33 defeated Mackenzie McDonald (USA) WR 127 by 3-6 4-6 6-1 6-2 6-3 in 3 hours & 21 minutes  smile

******

L64:  (30) Daniel Evans WR 33 vs Yoshihito Nishioka (JPN) WR 71 (CH = 58 in March 2017)

The weather seems to be wreaking havoc at the moment.  I'll bet Dan's pleased to have got that one out of the way before it all kicked off.

Dan will have to play a lot better than that to beat Nishikoa. McDonalds lack of matches told at the end.

Nishioka has a 2-0 h2h with Dan, tennis abstract now rating it 58-42 to the Japanese player

Pleased Dan got there in the end.

Kyle was 5-2 up in the 1st set when play was suspended.
