1 point in it at the end. I don't think it's fair to criticise, she dug deep and won, if she was that bad it doesn't say much about Doi
I think honest criticism and praise is fair enough. As are honest alternative viewpoints.
I didn't see any of the match and it is good to get various views.
Super reult anyway, well done Harriet.
Agree with this. Like you I didn't get to see the match but the result is important and great for Harriet. What I want to see now is at least a fighting effort from Harriet in the next round. Against the top players last year she came up embarrasingly short so even a 6-3 6-3 defeat would be an improvement.
I was impressed with Katie B from what I saw. She seemed to be hitting the ball cleanly on the forehand side. Shame it was such a tough first round draw. Her interview afterwards indicated she was going to play Acapulco and Indian Wells (?) as well as consideration to Fed Cup in the next few days.
I guess it's generally against the top players that her serve really gets found out i.e. attacked rather than just leading to a more neutral start to the point.
A round up where we are thus far. A great result for Harriet, and an encouraging performance by Katie. I'd have been intrigued actually to see her play Jabeur. Have a feeling she'd have done better than Jo, who has raised far more questions than answers in her brief appearance here. Let's hope Heather can follow the Harriet route...

Having played 2 matches in the last 4 months it looks like another month will elapse before she plays again. Not playing Fed Cup. No wonder she was talking about PR's. On comment I did read about the Jabeur match was that her serve was 5 to 10 miles slower than it was before her knee problems.

It is windy out there. Some of Heathers best results have been at Eastbourne and Hobart which are traditionally windy tournaments so hopefully shell be able to get through this one.
Not a pretty watch though
Heather lost first set. Im going to sleep so I might/probs will wake up looking like booboo the fool, but genuinely think she still has a good chance of coming through here.
