Did not expect to see this result! BLOODY FANTASTIC TO SEE! I've not seen a Heather performance like this since.... Serena? She was striking cleanly, constantly deep in the court with controlled aggression. Alex Ward working some magic?

I really do hope she can continue this, she does have the game to have been a consistent 30-50 player throughout her career. But the past few years she's lacked any confidence. Anyway, good luck against Rybakina! Crazy how quickly she has raced up the rankings, to put it into context, at the US Open she was still in qualifiers. Now at the Aussie Open she'll be seeded!

I didn't know (or had forgotten) that Alex was on board here. Tx, wales1994.

He's really been very impressive with some of his charges.

Great to see.

Wasn't expecting to see it go to three sets, just got to work and put the stream on again to see a MTO

Two really easy holds, but three of Hev's balls missed by a fraction.

Hev is *4-5

She needs another service game like the last one - two aces, a service winner (I think)....

One service winner, one DF, and three points where Rybakina dictated really well.

Hev lost 4-6 in the third ....

Not to be. Good week. Hope she gets some good recovery in and doesn't arrive flat in Melbourne as she has done a few times in previous years.

Well, good match and very close. That break for Rybakina to win the match was the only break in the final set. Heather can recover now for next week. This has been a great week for her... good tennis, good points, good for her confidence/ smile.

SF: WATSON, Heather (GBR) [Q] 101 lost to RYBAKINA, Elena (KAZ) [3] 30=CH 3-6 6-4 4-6

Happy for Hev, she has a winnable 1st round match up so a bit of rest won't go amiss, perfect prep for her.
