Other events - week 2

One of our absolute top youngsters is taking part in the J4 in UAE this week.

Sophya Devas is born 2006, just turned 14, and very highly thought of.

She's other there with Imogen Haddad who is also age 14 and a very promising player.

UAE, G4:

R1:

Sophya Devas def. (8) Leena Bennetto (CAN) 6-3 6-3

Imogen Haddad def. Anna Lajos (HUN) 6-0 6-4

In the J4 in Sweden, Giacomo Revelli had a BYE and then won one round to make the L16 but lost out, 0&5, to the top seed.

In the UAE, Sophya got pipped at the post, losing the third set 4-6.

But young Imogen beat the second seed !!!!

Again, in three sets.

Super well done to her.

Yes, absolutely.

Imogen did very well in the National Championships in summer.

She made the final (as a qualifier) of the U16 (playing up) and lost against Kristina Paskauskas

In the U14 she lost in the SFs against the amazingly talented Jaquelyn Ogunwale (who went on to beat Ranah for the title)

She was also part of the school team (at Queenswood) which won the bronze medal in some world school championships in summer.

Given Roach was also at that school but has now moved to one of the two new elite Academies so that must be a bit of blow for the school level.

Imogen lost her SF, 3-6 2-6, against the 3rd seed.

Excellent week, though.
