Some decent moves last week, especially from our 2005 cohort. And welcome to the rankings to young Ellie Blackford - our fifth 2006-er to get ranked (and she's the 4th 2006 in order now, with a 2007-er above her too, so our 5th best ranked youngster)
2023 - NEW IN - Emmie Wright ('03) 2729 - NEW IN - Ellie Blackford ('06)
ADD: Ok, I know I've mentioned this before but it does my head in how the rankings change, during the day, during the week, after they're published. An hour ago, for the right date, today, it was exactly as above: It now has:
20 (+4) Matilda Mutazdzic ('04)
110 (+6) Amelia Bissett ('03)

CD - is it right at the end of the year (31/12) that the drop off happens when the players age out of juniors?
I believe so - it's a proper calendar year thing
(David, that's right, no?)
Always exciting when we get that big boost, even though everyone knows it's coming and it's hardly a surprise
Jack Pinnington Jones will, I think, be in the top 10 as of January.
Matilda just outside, I think ...
Yes, all the 2002 born will be removed at the start of 2021. Given there are no high grade tournaments before then to add or drop Jack should be 6 and Matilda 12. First high grade event is a J1 in Prague starting Jan 11.
Not sure where to put this but am I correct that the junior calendar has 3 J5 events in the uk in jan to March- 2 in Loughborough and 1
In Stirling ? All seem to be Brits only events but with ranking points ?

Yes they were originally scheduled in Loughborough, Liverpool and Stirling in November - see more information here
Assuming nothing changes again, this is the last set of rankings for 2020.
As is obvious, we have relatively few 2003-ers, and zero 2004s to move into the top 100 or so when the new year kicks in (our best 2004s are outside the top 500).
Jack PJ, however, will be a top-tier player. And Lui will be top-100 too.
The others will have the chance to move up over the coming year, hoping that competition gets back to normal.
However, it's not that promising.
(There are seven foreign 2004s already in the top-100, and 15 in the top-200, which will increase greatly when the 2002s roll off).
28/12/20

Girls tend to move up to adults before boys, so the top 100, say, always has a markedly younger profile than with the boys. Nevertheless, it's good to see some promising younger players in our list with Matilda obviously leading the way.
However, there is a chronic lack of depth. We have no player from 231 down to 532. Only 6 players in the whole of the top-500, for a country that focuses heavily on junior rankings, is shocking.
Just to update on a couple of earlier posts - the first of the three British closed J5 events (Loughborough Jan 20) has been cancelled, as has the Prague J1 next week. The first J1 still on the calendar is in Ukraine starting Jan 18. At present Jack heads the acceptance list.
