However compatible or otherwise Jamie & Joe are as a doubles parynership, I did fully expect that their individual strengths would gel well enough to get the job done. But not to be
Extract from a Stu Fraser article in The Sunday Times headed "Tim Henman happy to be back in spotlight after decade in shadows":
It did not help that Henman could not select his best doubles pair for the deciding match against Bulgaria. The unusual selection rules for this new team event mean that Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski have been split up because Joe Salisbury, who regularly plays with American Rajeev Ram, is the top-ranked British doubles player. So Murray and Salisbury are playing together for the first time here - and it did show at times in an agonising defeat.
"It's such small margins," Henman said. "We had match points in the doubles and it didn't go our way. I've been around long enough to know you've got to keep putting yourself in that position and hopefully next time it will go our way."
Great news!!
I tried to post on here from my phone earlier, but as soon as I typed anything in the box, I lost the "post" box, so I couldn't post. Weird, it's never been a problem for me before.

You can use the reply button at the top of the page instead, just below the log out button.

This has happened to me for about a month, so whenever I reply on my phone now, I quote and then delete all the text, which is/was a bit annoying, but I've just tried Wolf's suggestion and that works, so will do that going forward, although the vast majority of my posts are via my laptop, which is fine.
So we need to beat moldova 3 nil, and have Belgium beat Bulgaria 2-1 to get in a 3 way tie which will come down to sets xountback. A Bulgaria win or belgium 3 nil will mean we come 2nd at best.
A 3 nil win is also a must to get one of the top 2nd place spots.
At least we know nothing less than perfect will do
Cam should win and also doubles , down to dan to beat albot

Yes, if Bulgaria win or Belgium win 3-0 they win the group.
But in the we win 3-0 and Belgium win 2-1 scenario Bulgaria would be beaten in the 3 way tiebreak since they only beat Moldova 2-1. Sets % would determine 1st and 2nd between GB and Belgium and that looks quite decent for us just now assuming these wins 3-0 for us and 2-1 for Belgium. Whatever, a 3-0 win for us vs Moldova and we can't be worse than 2nd.
If we do finish 2nd yes we still certainly want that 3-0 win to have an overall 6-3 record. In the other 2 groups to have played twice now (D and F) the best a 2nd place team can now do is 2-1 6-3.
Phew, close finish but beating world number 11 gets him 65 ranking points and puts him live 38th, best ranking if he maintains it.
Jamie and Joe have a tough must win doubles now versus Gilles and Vliegen, strong pair.
Re ranking points, I wasn't aware that the ATP Cup was an additional counter over and above players' best 18, as with the ATP finals.
However, the OER 13/01 forecast has Dan #38 on 1189 points and Cam on 865 points, which is adding their full respective 65 and 20 win points in spite of both already having the full 18 counters.

Reilly Opelka was moaning on Twitter yesterday that he only gets 18 counters when others will get 19. His post got a lot of "likes".
