2020 Ranking Predictions - Female

Good stuff, though it isn't exactly clear what the WTA's final frozen position will be.

We have :

1) The published WTA 16/03 rankings which ( unlike the ATP ) are currently the same as the 09/03 rankngs.

2) The OER women's rankings at 16/03 which allow for points earned after the 09/03 rankings but also take off ITF points due to come off ( although not Indian Wells points ) so Naiktha for instance has dropped a net 48 points from 267 to 219 points.

3) The way that the ATP have done their frozen 16/03 rankings ( and OER reflects this for the men ) which is to allow for points earned after the 09/03 rankings and take off nothing.

That confusion aside it is still good to have some update, and many players are not affected at all ( having had no points to add or take off ) or to relatively much less extent than Naiktha.

I finally got round to updating the table using the frozen rankings. A few changes in the rankings from the last post as one or two players moved a few places. So one or two of you will have moved a little, but when the rankings will resume later in the year remains in doubt.

I have used the official rankings as of 31st August, taken from the OER webpage.

A few movements in the players rankings has made a slight difference.

Despite the lack of tournaments, there has been a little movement in the rankings. I'll close this competition after the W100+H in Dubai, as Heather is in the main draw entry list. Unless she withraws of course, and no one makes it into qualifying.

that seems to make sense - do the WTA 100 + rankings for Dubai go on the 14th ranking list or is this an ITF event and take til the 21st?

It's an Itf event, but W100's are processed along with WTA events, so points should be applied on the 14th. It's really all about Heather's ranking, as the field is around her level.

Fran Jones and Jodie Burrage may both be in the Italian 25 starting on 14th. As both are in the UK top 10 should final scoring not be delayed until after the event?

Well normally the final results are based on the rankings immediately after the ATP finals, but since there have been so few events this year I am stretching it a bit further. There are a few others on the acceptance list for that tournament, but if they don't play I will definitely close it after the Duai points go on.

I think it makes sense and for the men. I'm using same date as close for the player of month polls and later that week player of season. Should be a fun week to wrap things up.
