Boys and Girls: J3 Nicosia, Cyprus, hard (Week 46)

The cancellation of the Grade 2 event in La Paz, because of political unrest, leaves two Grade 3s as the highest grade events this week.  There are only 2 British boys here, but they are the top two seeds, and are joined by young Eva Shaw

Boys R1 (L32)

(1) Harry Wendelken v (Q) Illya Sarafyn (UKR)

Jesse De Jager (NED) v (2) Toby Samuel

Girls R1 (L32)

(LL) Ema Bubalo (CRO) v Eva Shaw

Slightly strange that Harry W - who's only got less about 6 weeks left as a junior - is still playing junior events but I guess he's trying to max out his junior ranking potential.

Nice to see 2005-born Eva Shaw playing a J3 event

Just to mention too, that Kylie Bilchev came through qualis and made the main draw, and gets a decent slot:

Girls R1 (L32)

(q) Kylie Bilchev (GBR) v (wc) Klio Maria IOANNOU (CYP)

Kylie's most successful tournament above Grade 4, and now takes on the fifth seed, who ousted a top 100 player today (Sara Ziodato)

I haven't seen Kylie since her fine year as an under 12 in 2015 along with Holly Fischer (Auray and Eddie Herr matches are still available on YouTube). A narrow defeat today, and yes she is still on the acceptance list for Wirral next week

(5) Michaela Laki (GRE) d. (Q) Kylie Bilchev (GBR) 4-6 6-2 6-4
