Two weeks of G2s here in Spain with British interest. Eva Shaw just snuck in as last direct entry for her first Grade 2, but has unluckily copped the top seed, who recently reached 4 successive Grade 2/3 finals. Felix Gill won his first Grade 2 during the summer, and opens his campaign for a second against an ATP ranked wildcard. Spanish based Cheri Darley, a Grade 5 finalist last week, is given a wildcard
Felix was the only one successful in round 1, but at least he has backed that up to reach the quarters

(3) Felix Gill d. Max Wiskandt (GER) 7-6(7) 5-7 6-2
Good win (14th in his last 15 ITFs) over a player with higher ATP ranking on home soil, and he now takes on the one remaining seed, who has progressed untroubled so far (in fact he is on a 19 match unbeaten run, following three consecutive Grade 3 titles). Felix is also in his second successive Grade 2 doubles final with his French partner

(3) Felix Gill v (5) Gustavo Heide (BRA)
Doubles F
(1) Breysach/Gill (FRA/GBR) v (2) Alcala Gurri/Heide (ESP/BRA)
First part of the double successfully accomplished - and that should mean Felix is the top ranked Brit next week, taking over from Artur. Neither Arthur nor Felix have points to defend this year, so both will be comfortably inside the top 50 at the start of next year, when the 2001s drop off
