No surprise that it ended with a Bondarenko error after Heather double faulted serving for the match. She will need to be more assertive in the next match.
Well done, nice enough draw, but as Paul says, did well to put those missed MPs behind her. Obviously the win over McNally counts as a tour win, but that's her first official tour win under the WTA banner since Quebec last year.
Wang Qiang has drawn Rodionova in the first round which is a very nice draw for her, and I guess from her POV, should she come through that one, Hev is a decent R2 draw to make the quarter final. She did unfortunately retire with cramp at 7-5 5-4 last week in Beijing R1 against Tomljanovic, don't know if anyone saw it but was awful scenes, especially from a winning position, and had to be carried off in a wheelchair, so not sure if there'll be any lasting effects there, but on paper, Hev would do well to go any further, but a very welcome 30 points minimum in the bag.
Quebec, not San Jose.
