Rankings

Liam is the start this week, with a nice jump up of 24 places.
(Stuart Parker is up 80 places too, with the top-500 maybe in his sights??? And with young Oscar also threatening the top 1000?).

But Jay is out of the top 200, so we're down to only 5 in the top 200, and James Ward nearly out of the top 300.

22 Feb 2021

Top 300 and main upward movers

28 (-2) Dan Evans
51 (-1) Kyle Edmund
65 (+4) Cam Norrie
121 (+4) Andy Murray
167 (+24) Liam Broady
201 (-8) Jay Clarke
299 (-4) James Ward

339 (+13) Jan Choinski

636 (+80) Stuart Parker

1183 (+96) Oscar Weightman (born 2001)

When do points start coming off again? I assume it's a rolling process and the rankings will still be based on more than 12 months?

Middle of this month I believe.

Yes, appears to be from 15/03 from when they'll start taking 2019 points off on a rolling basis on their anniversaries until on the anniversary of the August 2020 restart they then take points off on 2019 and 2020 annversaries.

Into early 2022 and 2020 and 2021 points come off on their anniversaries until finally in March 2022 we are back to rankings based on just the previous 12 months.

That I believe is the plan anyway if all goes well.

I'm going to put this into google translate to see if I can understand it LOL.

And that's no reflection on your explanation Indi, it just seems remarkably complicated.

It is me I think because it's not really that bad.

Essentially, in general from later this month points will be coming off on the anniversaries of being added ( be that a one year or two year anniversary ). Yay, I think that's better

Err, yes thanks brittak ...

So for one thing, quite apart from such as the 50%s of this being compated to the 100%s of that, it is now planned on being August 2022 rather than March 2022 before we are back properly on track for rankings based on the previous 12 months.

Ha, Bob thought my now rather redundant explanation of the previous plan was a bit complex. Good luck with the latest ATP anmouncement   Hey ho.

I expect the live rankings websites are now writing algorithms and having a meltdown in the back ground!

Ha  biggrin

I was thinking about the live-tennis site. Let's say it has had a few inaccuracues when it should be relatively straightforward.

I will continue my ostrich approach, rely on the bods on this forum, and just look each Monday at what people are actually ranked - not a blinkin rat in hell's chance of being able to understand and remember all that.....no

I will continue to manually do rankings a week or two ahead. Should be entertaining and right or wrong I guess it will help my understanding of it all.

Not sure where to put this but the TNNS app has had another version upgrade today. Looks like there will be improved access to ITFs and also entry lists look like they are coming too.
