Most likely just a run of tournaments catching up as she has done Belfast, cork, Edinburgh in succession. Then a lot of competitive players in these tournaments who may not have the ranking points for seeding due to being younger or not having done as many itf tournaments. Then of course if tournaments always went with seeding there would be no point in playing them!
Yes, I don't take much notice of rankings at the lower end. They're very much about who's been able to play ITFs and who hasn't, not the standard.
Amy's ranking has only recently jumped up hugely thanks to the win in Belfast, so it's not really a 'consolidated' ranking. And I've no idea about Ella's real level because she has barely played any ITF events (and I don't follow domestic events).
But, of course, she has played a lot recently and might be carrying a slight injury too - although I'd have though that if she were, given her success and the other events, her parents would have withdrawn her very quickly from this one.
Very good effort from 2005-born Ella, so close. Add one step better for 2005-born Talia. Dan's made the final too.
GIRLS SF:
Luca Victoria VOCKE (GER) [5] 3-6 7-6(6) 6-2 Ella MCDONALD (GBR)
Talia NEILSON GATENBY (GBR) 6-3 6-0 Lidia GONZALEZ (ESP)
BOYS SF:
Daniel WEBB (GBR) [1] 6-2 4-6 6-3 Billy BLAYDES (GBR) [8]
Dan is in the final of the doubles.
And in the girls, Megan Davies & Amy Leather are in the final, with the other semi (wiht Lucia and Millie Mae) still to play
There are some nice tweets about her win here, in Edinburgh, too. And photos.
David will know better but I'm sure Talia was part of the GB team for some recent(ish) young junior event.
She's obviously highly thought of, she was at La Manga for the training camp.
I don't know quite where the powers that be rate her compared with Eva Shaw, Ranah Stoiber, Kristina P and other 2005-ers.
Personally, on the livestream little bits I've seen, Hephzibah Oluwadare (who beat Talia last year in the U12 and is born 2007) is the truly stand out player.

I have never seen Talia play and don't recall her in any of the Tennis Europe team competitions. She is currently our third highest ranked 2005 (behind Ranah and Eva) following some decent results in lower category Tennis Europe Under 14 events (one singles title this year)
Maybe I'm confused. I'll try and find it, there's definitely something at the back of my mind.....
Although it might be just because she was top seed in the under 12 national finals last year (when it was done on school years, I think, so she was actually 13).
