There's no way round it, if you were the head bod at Junior tennis at the LTA, you'd have hoped that Destinee would beat a girl born in 2005 who hasn't played since RG, on clay.
And that Vic would have beaten a girl born 2003 who lost easily in the first round at Roehampton (to Destinee)
And, indeed, that Holly might have managed a win against a girl JWR 67 who also lost in R1 at Roehampton, very easily.

But well done to Erin and Sonay, and good luck to Emma, Marni and Matilda.

I think at lower grade ITF juniors players from the same country are kept apart in the first round as much as possible, which makes sense because travelling abroad and playing someone from down the road at home isn't great. However, I notice none of the GB girls got drawn against each other so does this 'keeping them apart' still happen in GS juniors? Sometimes it would be nice for the best ones to play each other to see how they compare, as otherwise it very rarely seems to happen.

I don't know but I think it happens throughout junior ITFs, Grand Slams included. 

National championships would be the normal place for home players to play each other. in fact, that's the very point of national championships. However, the LTA don't really hold with proper national championships. cry

 In all ITF junior events the draws are supposed to give maximum separation to players of the same nation. That's why the 8 British girls are in separate eighths of the draw here. The only exception is when qualifiers/lucky losers are placed after the main draw is made - however we didn't get any in the girls draw

And she was off not long later. Lost 1-6 0-6. Emma has just won her first set 6-0 though. It doesn't seem you can view Court 7 for some reason (or Court 4 for Matilda later).
