Disappointingly the under 12s lost their crucial match to Bulgaria 2-1 . Samy won in 3, Ben lost in 2 and Ben/Oliver were pipped 11-9 in the doubles match tiebreak. They therefore play-off for 5th place in the qualifying group
Qualifying for the under 16s and under 18s starts tomorrow. The under 16 team of Jack Pinnington Jones, Lui Maxted and Derrick Chen will be hoping to qualify for the Junior Davis Cup - the first stage being to qualify for their European Summer Cup final, beginning with a match against Hungary tomorrow.
The under 18 team of Felix Gill, Toby Samuel and Oscar Weightman play in a 5 team group in London (quite a few countries opt out of the under 18 event). The draw is not yet up.
Derrick, playing at 1, won 6-4 in the third. Jack won 5-5 retired. Jack and Lui lost the dubs, 9-11 (again !). But victory for GB over Poland, 2-1 and into the final rounds. Well done, lads.
The U18 boys also won 2-1 (over Portugal) and qualify too. Wins for Felix and Toby in the singles and a loss for Toby and Oscar in the dubs.
For some reason, I can't find the actual match today, but I think that the top two qualifiers played off against to determine seedings for the final stages in Le Touquet.
So, based on this alone, well done to the U16s !

A good 3-0 win for the U16 Summer Cup team against Serbia today guarantees a seeding spot in the finals next week, good work @djchen88 @jackpj2003 @LuiMaxted @TennisFirst @TennisEurope @domohara @the_LTA
They did indeed play off for seeding spots. In the under 16s Derrick won in 3, Jack in 2 and they won the doubles by retirement. With a 3-0 win they will be seeded in Le Touquet for the finals starting Monday. If they win their opening match they qualify for the Junior Davis Cup. The under 18s lost 2-0 to a strong French team (straight sets losses for Felix/Oscar against top 20 juniors) so will be unseeded for their finals in La Rochelle starting Monday.
The under 16s have drawn Greece tomorrow, which on paper is the best QF draw they could have had (though they are in the same half as the strong French team). I haven't found the draw for the under 18s yet.
The under 16s took advantage of their inviting draw, thumping Greece to reach the semis, and hence the Junior Davis Cup in September for the second year running (Jack was a part of last year's team as well). France also won comfortably and are up next - they have the two European Championships finalists (one beat Jack comfortably in the semis) and the third player is in the ITF top 100. Surprisingly Denmark (including JWR2 Holger Rune) didn't enter a team.
U16 QF
(3)GBR 3 Greece 0
Derrick Chen d. Evangelos Kypriotis 6-1 6-1
Jack Pinnington Jones d. Basilis Voltirakis 6-2 6-2
Chen/Maxted d. Astreinidis/Kypriotis 7-6(5) 7-5
Good win for Derrick against the European U16 champion but the under 16s were just pipped in the decisive doubles, so will play for bronze against Spain tomorrow
