Paul's gained 10 pts in the last two weeks. Another 10 pts and he takes out Alex Ward as GB #10

Really? The fact that out number 10 is someone who retired last year is pretty grim....

Yes, it's because Evan has scored most of his points at ITF level so far this year. Taking into account those points, which will happen come August, he would be in the top 10 now. Under the current (temporary) system we only have 18 ranked players still.

Evan finding it tough today. 0-6, only won 7 points.

Pity. Certainly not enhanced any arguable case for a Wimbledon Q WC. Rain suspension after that first set.

That was my first thought when checking the opponents ranking. Didn't see any of the match, but it doesn't really bode well.

Yes saw that. Must have been quite some sudden rain to come off at set point, having played the TB up to then.

re Jan v Brydan. They have actually played twice before, both times Brydan was lower ranked and both time Brydan won, quite comfortably in the end. Within one week of each other, strangely back in October 16.

10Oct2016 Fairfield CH Hard Q1 517 329 (7)Brydan Klein [AUS] d. Choinski 7-6(8) 6-0
3Oct2016 Stockton CH Hard Q3 460 349 Brydan Klein [AUS] d. Choinski 6-7(6) 6-4 6-1

Out-aced (9-6), but by no means outplayed!  biggrin

*****

L32:  (WC) Paul Jubb WR 579 (= CH) vs (8) Thiago Monteiro (BRA) WR 104 (CH = 74 in February 2017)

FANTASTIC start to the summer for the NCAA champion, if he can get a real foothold in challengers this summer that would be a major stepping stone for him! I would imagine South Carolina will facilitate a Challenger level autumn and the NCAA win will get him wildcards in the US. Very exciting progress!

Evan broke at the start of the second set but ended up losing it 4-6

There was some good play in the second set but, again, as previously, he lacks the rigour to string together three or four good shots, instead playing one and sort of hoping that'll be enough.

And Liam loses too, 7-6 6-2.

Not much in the way of positives to take from that second set.....
