I put this in the Andy thread too but Andy will play Wimbledon doubles with Pierre-Hughes Herbert. Bit of a shame for Mahut though.
How ironic will it be if PHH forces Mr Murray to give a walkover in the doubles if/ when he goes deep in the singles ...
? At this point in time Andy is probably just happy to be playing. And has PHH ever done that before?
I am sure that Mr Murray is happy to be playing; he certainly looked it yesterday. But I was pointing out that it appears that PHH has broken with his long term partner to "concentrate on singles", and I can't help wondering what he would do if he got to - say - the fourth round, the semi-final ...

I suspect he will have had that discussion and cleared the lines before they entered together.

oh, no, I agree - I was saying (or implying) that i am sure PHH has assured Andy and his team he wouldnt pull out at any stage (other than genuine injury etc)
Andy said he wanted a partner who was experienced enough so he didnt need to take a WC and would not be taking it so seriously & so wouldnt mind if he suddenly had to withdraw. Pierre-Hugues, whos focusing on singles now, fits that description perfectly?

That's basically what P2H himself said in intervew with L'Equipe: 1) as Andy' status still uncertain, this is not traditional doubles that both players are fully invested in and can't let the partner down. If something happens, there's no regret both Pierre and Andy understand it
and 2) as P2H said, you don't turn down the opportunity to play with Murray at Wimbledon of all places.
