Week 25 - ATP 500 - Fever-Tree Championships - The Queen's Club, London, Great Britain (grass)

But the weather came as such a shock - not.

It does seem that they could have been further through the draws.

May you have sunshine wherever you choose next year, FW.

The full tale of woe in the singles:

L32:  (1) Stefanos Tsitsipas (GRE) WR 6 defeated Kyle Edmund WR 29 by 3 & 5

Better second set:  he staved off quite a few match points before eventually succumbing.

L32:  Lucas Pouille (FRA) WR 29 defeated (WC) Jay Clarke WR 164 by 7-6(2) 6-1

L32:  (7) Stan Wawrinka (SUI) WR 19 defeated (WC) Daniel Evans WR 63 by 3 & 4

L32:  Gilles Simon (FRA) WR 38 defeated (Q) James Ward WR 212 by 3-6 6-3 7-6(2)  hmm

L32:  (2) Kevin Anderson (RSA) WR 8 defeated Cameron Norrie WR 49 by 4-6 7-6(5) 6-4  hmm

Gilou has just beaten Anderson in three...

You just knew that he wasn't going to be able to take it to a TB. Seemed inevitable, you know?

Delpo has officially broken his patella again and will need surgery. So that will be him out for months/rest of the year.

That is a real shame, you have to fear for his career to be honest, how many times will he be willing to go through this

I know I think the same. He gets going again and then his body breaks down. Such a shame - a great player, lovely man.

Not gone great in R2 for the GB R1 conquerors ( you recall err "some fairly awful draws" for the Brits ). Just one win from Simon, well one of Simon and Anderson had to win. Wawrinka lost to Mahut, Pouille lost to Medvedev and Tsitsipas was nearly gone to Chardy there.

Tsitsipas almost lost in the 3rd too (couldn't serve it out) but eventually prevails. Chardy still has doubles to play.

Andy on next.

This makes me very happy. Mahut winning at his favourite tournament.
