LTA have now added a grounds pass option for tomorrow, £12. Bit expensive but can't really blame them for wanting to make up some dosh on the week and well done for quickly putting that up.

After two breaks to start the match, Dan *1-2. I've got a nasty suspicion Dan is going to be bored into submission by Soeda's tennis, and won't have the legs he needs to win. He's going to have to play more agressive than he's doing so far.

I was wrong, Dan stays patient and dictates when he can. Soeda made a few silly errors to fall behind. First set Dan 6-4.

First set in the bag by 6-4 in 35 minutes.  Now, Dan, keep something in the tank for the final:  finish him off in two, !

Interesting after Wolf's early remarks that it's Soeda that hasn't had the patience, at least certainly in this second set. Dan has simply kept him playing and Soeda has then kept making errors trying to force the play. Dan nearly over the line now, serving for the match.

SF:  (1/WC) Daniel Evans WR 70 defeated Go Soeda (JPN) WR 191 by 4 & 2 in an hour & ten minutes

*****

Final:  (1/WC) Daniel Evans WR 70 vs (13) Evgeny Donskoy (RUS) WR 148 (CH = 65 in July 2013)

The Russian is exactly two weeks older than Dan.  The head-to-head is one apiece, with Dan winning their first encounter in three sets in an Italian Futures event on clay in 2010 (!) & Donskoy the more recent one, the Vancouver Challenger in 2013, also in three sets.

Well done Dan. Has defended last years points here. And a straight sets win for a change!

The gain on the camera is far too low.  The image is also too blue.  These are are simple settings to change, but I'm just pleased to have a stream that more or less works.

And well done to Dan!  He looked in control.
