lost 4-6 4-6. Maria is a set and break up on Wickmayer, winner of that plays Magda.

What next for Heather, Nottingham or Manchester?

Nottingham. Just made the cut without needing a WC. She must have been MDO.

Looks a very good effort against a very good grass player, showing she can compete well on grass against those safely in the Wimbledon draw, but ultimately no points or additional prize money and that extra set needed may indirectly come back to cost her if Riske feels the effects in her next match.

Bit unfair though on Riske. Nobody else has had to win 3 sets

Haha, I'm an advocate for BO5.

I did think Riske and Rybarikova would be the faves to reach the final when they were in opposite halves, despite their 3 and 5 seeding, so a shame the Brits couldn't have avoided them until the semi final, but a very good effort from both, and both beat 2 higher ranked players to get where they did. Wickmayer is out now, so it's only young Caty McNally who can win this who isn't already in Wimbledon.

Semi finals are:

3) Riske vs McNally
5) Rybarikova vs 2) Maria

If Caty does win it then I'd personally rather a very talented youngster received the potential Wimbledon WC than someone like Perrin who made the final last year, no disrespect to Conny, and then had an even better opinion of Wimbledon when she inevitably moves up the ranks and goes on to much bigger and better thing, and to be fair, coming through through quals and beating the #1 seed as well as #3 Riske and either the #2 seed or Magda in the final - if she were to do that, which she'd have to, then she would fully deserve a Wimbledon WC IMO. That said, with Manchester looking pretty weak next week, there is a good chance that that event will be won by someone needing a WC, so I'd personally probably rather Riske or Rybarikova won this.

Riske has started with a double break lead over McNally. *3-0.

Riske was 6-0 4-0 up, and ended up winning 6-0 6-4, so there should now be no Wimbledon WC for Surbiton.

Magda beat Tatjana in straight sets.

Riske vs Rybarikova is a pretty cool final for those attending tomorrow. I do like grass court specialists and hopefully there'll be many more to emerge in the coming years.

Alison Riske has won it quite comfortably in the end 6-7(5) 6-2 6-2

Well done to her, and well done to Katy D who also ran her to three sets in the QF.

Worth noting that Alison Riske has continued her fine form and gone on to win the title in 's-Hertogenbosch, beating Kiki Bertens in the final.
