She is indeed, defending champ here and had some decent Wimbledon runs. She won 12 of 14 points, but Katy looks on course to take it to a tie break.
Just checking their score last year and it was 5-7 0-6. Something tells me Katy was in a strong position in that first set as well, will have to check, so hopefully not a repeat here.
Tie break it is.
Edit - FWIW, she was *3-1 in that first set last year.

A long way to go in both matches, and both matches could quite easily be turned around, but McNally also won her first set 7-6 against the top seed Van U. If she and Katy were to meet in the semi final later today, then that match could have even more significance.
Looks a very good effort against a very good grass player, showing she can compete well on grass against those safely in the Wimbledon draw, but ultimately no points or additional prize money and that extra set needed may indirectly come back to cost her if Riske feels the effects in her next match.
