Thankyou Surbiton. After a good 1st round win I'm gutted not to be able to compete in our 1/4 final today as Katy was unable to play. Hope to see you next year!
Emily has confirmed that it was Katy who couldn't play. Presumably Katy might have played anyway if the singles schedule hadn't been crunched by the weather. Hopefully she's fully intending to play two singles matches tomorrow!

Excellent wins from Heather & Katy. Certainly Katy D's turn to shine having been a bit overshadowed last year. Well done both.
She was overshadowed because she got Riske earlier last year, whereas the others got quite decent draws. Good chance for revenge, though I imagine she'd have preferred to avoid Alison for another round or two!
Really great to see both of our players who won W60s recently after at best indifferent (Katy) / bad (Heather) runs proving those wins weren't a flash in the pan. A real step up for both tomorrow though.

Interesting that Sofia made a comment on Instagram that the reason shes not in the UK at Surbiton is that she's waiting on her visa.
I'm not sure they would have made the cut as a pair, but perhaps there was an anticipation they would have been given a wildcard, which is quite interesting.

Forgive me, I'm not familiar with first names. Who is Sofia.?
Sofia Shapatava from Georgia, who has partnered Emily to four W25 titles this year.
"contact British embassy to give me visa faster and better and i would love to be on my favorite surface"

That's really annoying. Georgia is not a country there should be any delays in issuing visas to people, and she is a professional tennis player ffs.

Partnered Emily to four RECENT doubles titles, including last week and about 3 in the last 4-6 weeks.

We only have her word for it -what if she applied late?

Maybe. Unfortunately recent history does not incline me to giving the HO the benefit of the doubt.
That's my take on it - I strongly suspect it was a late decision, and didn't allow enough time for the application to be processed. Not sure if she will be coming over yet - she is entered in a Czech tournament for 17th June.

Yes, that was more my initial take was that she had entered a different set of tournaments. Maybe she and Em have been changing their priorities owing to their recent success.
