Given recent revelations, perhaps both Dan and Mr Troicki should consider standing for leader of the Tory party.  wink

I really didnt see Goves coke scandal coming, Boris had already told us he had indulged and the appears to have forgotten his admission. Interestingly unlike tennis players I dont see Tories as role models and given the shambles, we, they are in, it cant possibly be performance enhancing!

I think for Dan this is a big match in his career today. It may not be the biggest stage but it, as he says, a long while since he won a home tournament, and surbiton is one of the most prestigious challenger events based on 125 level and history and position in season etc. Hope he pulls it off.

Flight of fancy. If Dan wins today, wins Nottingham next week and wins queens, hed move top 30 and get a Wimbledon seeding.

Just saying...can at least mention it.

That would move him into top 10 by the way. Just for future info.

Every match is a big match in your career, I dont see a Challenger win as career defining for a player who prior to his ban and indeed since (at Delray Beach in February) has made ATP 250 finals and was in a cracking run in slams, generally very competitive with and beating some of the top players in the world.

I sense he is much more settled now, David Felgate is a good fit and comments to and relationship with the media are more considered mature and professional. Still not boring. In that sense a win here would put him in a great place to progress, he is getting into the pre ban rankings (41) ball park which will give him the opportunity to make the absolute most of every second he has left as a professional tennis player. Dan has played too many challengers, he needs to get to an exclusively ATP schedule.

I agree oakland , not career defining but certainly an opportunity to push on and a match he should hope to win. Post Nottingham, he will be in queens, cant recall re eastbourne and then Wimbledon, and then should be aiming at rest of the season at ATP level and hopefully get into cinci, Canada as the season progresses. I think he should be aiming at a year end rank above his career high, no reason not to aim at that once he is playing ATP events exclusively.

,I am really excited about the way he has comeback from his ban. His response will define the rest of his career, a win today would be a great start to the grass court season, regardless great preparation for bigger challenges to come.

Honestly although some of the predictions are a little optimistic it may be possible given the way things have gone this year should Jack Grealish lend him one of his shirts for the closed season. In the absence of Andy and Kyle, and given Dans use of Allez to audibly punctuate the end of each point, I look forward to British Tennis Fans in the stands of Surbiton and Wimbledon giving their full backing ... breaking out into a throaty roar through the summer of Every day we follow...... He conquered all of Europe in 2022! ). Allez Allez Alleeezzz, Allez Allez Allez

Before any one suggests it, despite the stream of consciousness that this post has become, the brownie I have just consumed, Fibre One 90 Calorie, was purely for medicinal purposes and came in a foil wrapper sealed for freshness of unlike Mr Hunts lassi.

The final (scheduled for NB 2pm) is going to be somewhat delayed, as the women's final has just gone to a decider (2:30pm)
