Naomi will get a wildcard into Manchester

Sam Murray should get a qualifying wildcard as she is based in South Manchester and expect some of the local girls to get invites. Beth, Holly Staff etc.

I'm surprised to see Heather on the Manchester list as I had assumed she'd get a WC for Nottingham?

Manchester is really interesting - RedS noticed the other day that the LTA were promoting her as the Manchester headline act, but I wonder where that leaves Nottingham. Boulter was confirmed for that in the very early press releases (before the newspapers got hold of the injury story), so whether this indicates that she might be ready to take that WC after all, we'll have to wait and see. We should get 2 guaranteed MDWCs for Nottm (with a possibility of a 3rd), Harriet would be an obvious choice but it would be a bit of a surprise if they chose Katie S (or Naiktha who withdrew from Manchester) over her. I suppose Heather could have actively chose to compete in Manchester instead where she should be a seed, so more likely to ease her way into the draw, whereas Nottm is more of a lottery - you could get top seed Barty in R1 or a softer draw like Lao last year, but you would also get more points for a solitary Lao win than you would for reaching the Manchester QF, so I'd personally prefer to play the WTA event if I was a circa top 100 and competent on grass.

It'll be interesting to see where all the WCs go this particular week.

It would be great if he could win a title. Or any other GB player...

Thats a little annoying and a bit of a waste of a wild card seeing as how he could have entered in the first place

Just to note a change in the process for alternates on ITF lists from today. At the freeze deadline (2pm GMT Thursday before the tournament start) players can only be on one alternate list - whichever is their highest priority event they remain entered in - and will be removed from all other alternate lists. They can change which is their highest priority event up until the freeze deadline. They will not be committed to that event and can still sign in elsewhere, but if they do sign in elsewhere they will be treated as an on site alt who will only be accepted after all players who sign in that remained on the alternate acceptance list.

I see there are only 21 in the Manchester MD and 18 in Q. Once the 3 empty spots are filled Gabi will be in qualifying, and Maia will be alt#1 who will move into qualifying when the two spots reserved for SEs are filled.

Looks like it's Kumkhum from the main draw and Ruse and Mariam B from quals. Katie S will have a chance of getting into the main draw with further withdrawals. I've not fully looked at the W60 fields, but there doesn't seem many realistic Surbition SE candidates to jump ahead of her. Dolehide wouldn't affect Katie S, so it's just really Katy D.

If Swan did get in directly then it would be a bit of a shame for her to get a Nottingham MDWC, from a neutral British fans perspective, not necessarily hers, as the knock on effect would allow one extra GB player to play. Since Naiktha is already out of Manchester, maybe her and one or both of Jodie and Katy (depending on if it's 2 or 3 Nottingham MDWCs) would be best?
