Jim Courier on ITV4:  "Kyle Edmund is a wonderful tennis player, but he's woefully short of confidence at the moment".  cry

I'd love to know which tasteless individual at Nike is responsible for the drab, God-awful, girly kit Kyle is wearing!  disbelief  furious  It's up there with with Dino's Ted Baker get-up from a few years ago.  There was some speculation between Jim Courier & Mark Petchey (?), but they came to no firm conclusions about whether Kyle actually had sufficient clout to turn round & say "no" to what he was sent.  JC thought he probably wasn't ranked highly enough to do so.

Also flowers etc isn't girly. Plenty of men wear floral patterns!

Yes, they are!   Are you telling me you actually like those appalling, hideous Hawaiian shirts some men seem to go in for?

No I don't personally like them but not are they necessarily "girly" which is my point rather than what I like or dislike.

Kyle back in the doodoo:  loses the fourth set by 4-6, in spite of a spirited fight-back from 1-5*.  I now fear the worst here.  bleh

When did Chardy turn into Ivo Karlovic?

26 aces to 3

Kyle only has himself to blame for that.

Having spent 5 hours on the train and 1 hour in the car and therefore not able to see anything but live scores, I am interested to know what has brought you to that opinion.  Did he choke on BPs or something ?  Just curious.

So they restart at *5-5 in a 3 game shootout tomorrow. It will be a lottery. I fear this is one of those occasions where serving first might be a disadvantage. More chance of getting caught cold.

Personally I am just glad Kyle remained competitive for 4 hours. Regardless of the result tomorrow, that in itself is a good sign given the illness issues he has had this season.

He was 4-1 up in that 2nd set....he also had a break point in the first game of Chardy's serve in set 5. I did initially comment that Kyle would have no chance. Courier was talking a lot of sense, he started counting Kyle's poor shot selection in set 5 -although think he only counted one such shot. Courier was saying the top guys rarely hit shots they haven't thought about.

I wouldn't say choked, what I would say and we all know it - it's lack of confidence and possibly also lack of court presence (again). No big roar. Just the odd fist pump now and again.

Forecast tomorrow isn't brilliant (scattered showers) and there is no roof here so getting everything played + start of the doubles matches may prove tricky.

Edited to add - yes, he ddint run out of puff this time which is something positive.
