Dart is in the main draw, but may be a doubt. Naomi will be seeded and Maia, again if fit, may well be too. Jodie is also in the draw. Let's assume for now that Emma won't get another SE, qualifying wise, we have Tara, Alicia, Freya, Sam, Ella, Emma, Laura, Alice, K Pitak, A Pitak and Sasha all involved. Unless it's Emma, I don't think anyone else will make the main draw, unless there are no SE's and a fair few withdrawals. Holly and Kimberly may get into quals directly when you consider the 4 MDWCs (if those in quals) and withdrawals, but the rest will be struggling without a QWC. Names not currently in quals include those 2 and as well as the likes of Emily M, Victoria, Lillian, Olivia E and Amelia as well as a few less familiar others.
Seeing that she won a first round match this week, would think that Victoria Allen will at least be given a QWC. Week after it will become much easier for her to get into ITF tournaments, though W25 entries will still present a challenge, with the comparatively low ranking she will have initially. With no ITF ranking at all, there is not much incentive for her to look to enter W15s at all, however, so she will still need to look to find ways of getting into some further W25s when she can.

Yep, when the likes of Eden, Fran and others are elsewhere, I'd give Victoria a MDWC personally. I'm not sure what her allocation limit is, but she could get QWCs into some of the grass events and wouldn't be as likely to get MDWCs into those when most of the crew are in town over the summer. I'd give Emma one as well (assuming it's needed), especially as she avoided one in Bolton. Possibly Tara for coming through quals and not too many other options. Alicia hasn't really had much this year, but as she lost to Holly, who then competed well against Noel, I'd probably give Holly one as well, especially as Sasha got one this week, so they're not scared to put youngsters in at the deep end, so Victoria, Emma, Holly and Tara.
Assuming her heel has recovered do you not think Laura might be a possible for a WC in Sunderland? I'd probably favour her rather than Tara who continues to disappoint at this level.
My vote would go to Emma, Laura, Vicky and A.N.Other. I don't think the likes of Freya, Tara and Alicia have shown enough recently to be at the top of the list.

You're right in that Laura desperately needs the counter now Super T. Currently she only has 3 counters and will lose one on 6 May and the other on 13 May, so without two more counters by then, she will have lost her WTA ranking, and then will really struggle to get back. I don't know what she did with her shoes this week, but it certainly wasn't the best time to get a huge blister. Even if she is given a Sunderland WC, she will either need to reach the QF, or somehow find another W25 in Europe to enter before mid May.
Totally understand the reservations over Tara, it's not as if she's on the up and I'd be (pleasantly) very surprised if she ever got near the top 200 again unfortunately, but I guess it was more the not many suitable alternatives. Laura would certainly be the more popular choice universally given all she has done, her likeability, and that she is still quite a big name/draw, but I was mainly basing that on the match between them the other day, even if Laura was notably restricted, there was also the receiving of a WC the other month, withdrawing and ultimately letting that one go to waste - it would be a shame if that was to happen again - would rather give the likes of Alice, Ella and Sasha another go then nobody at all.
Freya has had her fair share already and lost poorly in qualifying lat week, so her (hopefully) coming through quals would be the better option, but there really isn't too many other options in the entry list. What's Destinee Martins up to? She never seems on any list. I did notice Holly F was on the Bolton entry list but was automatically withdrawn due to her US junior commitments, but since she went out early there (but put up a good effort against a good player) that could maybe be an option, if allowed at all.
Laura needs matches. Qualifying would be better for her.
I expect Maia to withdraw.
Vic will get a wildcard if she wants one.
Those who did well at Bolton BT will be in with a chance of a wildcard.
The BT feed up WCs won't be used as both Naomi and Alice are already in the draws for the WCs that are available to them. Although, it wouldn't be amiss to upgrade Alice's to a MDWC as a reward instead. I expect Emma to get a WC, that would leave her with 2 remaining (but only 1 ITF MD) until her birthday. Victoria deserves one, but that would be two in consecutive weeks and leave her with 2 left. But it may be better to use a MD WC now, as she is on form and likely to be lower down the options for MD WC in the grass season. And our college players may take the available WCs in the summer 25Ks, and she may not be available for the September 25Ks if she is still going to college. I think Laura will get one, as while she needs the matches I think avoiding 2 matches in a day that is required in qualifying would be better for her. A MDWC here will mean she only needs 1 MD entry or qualifying win to regain a ranking during the grass season.
So for MDWCs I would go for Emma, Laura, Alice and Victoria. Holly may be an alternative for one of them. QWCs will probably just go to the next British players to sign in.
I agree with RS that I would probably go for Emma, Laura, Alice and Victoria. Laura doesn't want to have only one counter by the beginning of the grass court season. Victoria will be higher up entry lists once her points go on, and if she could get one more R32 win in Sunderland, then she will already be moving higher up those W25 entry lists too. Emma, I'm sorry that I didn't put her in my GB top 10 for the year, since I think she is going to get there now. I'm not sure what's happening with Fran, but she's still struggling with the step up to 25k whilst Emma is decidedly not.
I agree with Paulisi that Laura needs matches, but unless she is very unlucky with the draw, the field is Sunderland should be weak enough to enable that to happen. A WC would give her an extra day for the heel's recovery and avoid the need for to play twice in one day. Also as AV points out, it gives a much needed counter to help her avoid her losing her ranking altogether.
Regarding Fran, I feel she has been more disadvantaged by the change in ranking points than any other GB player. She has 14 counters for WTA and 8 for ITF, including two wins and a RU, but this leaves her trailing on both scales compared to where she would have been under the old system. I just hope the fact that she's not playing just now doesn't mean she's injured. She came through 25K qualies quite a few times in 2018 so I don't believe she's far off that level.
Hopefully Harriet and especially Jodie will be fine to play (Maia as well). Bektas and Scholsen will now move into the main draw, which would leave Tara 5 withdrawals from getting in so I doubt that will happen. If any GB main draw player were to withdraw, selfishly I would quite like it to be after the qualifying draw - we should have at least 13 players involved in the Qs - 11 currently in the list, minus 3 MDWCs (I'm assuming Victoria will get the 4th), +5 QWCs, and because we had the likes of Sam, Laura and Holly lose in the FQR last week, the chances are we'd probably have a few here as well, maybe add Freya and Alicia to that, so if there were 2 or 3 LL spots opening up, we might benefit more from that. Of course, any of Jodie/Maia/Harriet withdrawing before the Q draw might sneak the likes of Holly and Kimberly into the quals directly and allow 2 other players further down the chance to play quals via a QWC, but while they would get experience, the chances are there'd be a lot of routine 0-6 2-6 type results, and ultimately, the more GB players in the main draw, the better.

I've put far too much thought into this...ha.
Yes, I assume you're quite good at chess, Ace? That's several moves ahead you're thinking there!
