Alicia Barnett has made consistent progress since starting to play full-time after US Uni. Sadly, however, Alicia has not been the recipient of LTA wildcards which are consistently given to others with no more talent than her.
Has Alicia Barnett retired from tennis? She only appears to be playing doubles or have I missed something.
Her WTA ranking (475) is probably not high enough to get into a 25k. Has very few ITF points.
Look at the Macon entry list for 25 Feb. Main draw cutoff is 194, qualfying is 255. On the main alt list, Jodie is 65, Beth is 77 and Lissey is 92. Obviously there will be a lot of withdrawals tomorrow, but the problem of getting in to a W25 is huge right now.

She was given 2 MDWCs and 2 QWCs last year, so it's not as if she i completely overlooked and with the 2 extra 25k events this year (well hopefully they are extra and not just placed earlier in the calendar), she'll get opportunities this year as well. Not really sure any obvious recipients she should have got one over for Shrewsbury:
MDWC
Naomi - familiar name, especially with all the withdrawals. Would have been in Qs anyway
Maia - former champ
Freya - similarly ranked, but Freya has obviously been in top 300 and is more than 4 years younger
Fran - much younger and slightly higher ranked
QWC
Laura - speaks for itself
Eden - younger, higher ranked, fresh off a good week in France
Emily - I suspect this may be the main one if there was a gripe here. Obviously age is the main differentiator here. I suspect Emily's will dry up if she is ranked where she is in 18-24 months time
Victoria - Was a bit out of the blue, but they obviously see potential in her. Very young, good week in Melbourne and had one or two good grass wins last year and more than justified her wildcard today.
She'll likely get something in Glasgow net week or might well sneak into quals herself when over wildcards and withdrawals occur.
All of today's matches are scheduled to be streamed. The first five are all on court one, the order is Maia, Naomi, Fran, Laura, Jodie.
Freya is second up on court three.

Im sorry to say it but I have no idea why Im in the draw. I pulled out last week already because I was sick
That last sentence is Lisicki's official Instagram confirming she pulled out last week. Strange.
Maia underway and they've exchanged early breaks. 1-1*
I see Jodie is 1/2 to beat the Greek girl who took Katie 3, all the others' odds are quite even bar Fran who is 12/5 to beat her seed. Freya was a betting outsider against Sabine, but no updated odds for her match with Georges.

Thanks Ace. I'd be interested to know how Alicia's wild cards compare with those given to Jodie and Freya.

Yeah, I've not got the info in front of me - I manually went through the British ITFs to workout Alicia's - not sure if anyone knows a good site to get that info first hand?
A quick check on OpenEraRankings does suggest they got more, looks like Freya got her 4 full ITF MDWCs + others and Jodie got a fair few as well, certainly more than Alicia, but in Jodie's case at least, I personally don't blame them for putting more eggs into her basket.
