How many wins in senior main draw events will we achieve in Australian open?

Men's and ladies singles and doubles, not mixed!

Doubles wins for Skupski bros etc count as 1 win not 2!

Over last two years, brits have not won more than 12 matches total at an overseas slam, so 18 plus would smash that. At Wimbledon however , brits have won in mid 20's both of last two seasons. So let's hope that is possible in an overseas event as well.

For what it's worth I voted 18 plus!

Linked to this subject, this is the first year GB has had 8 players in the singles main draws at the Australian Open for 31 years, i.e. since 1988, when there were no less than 15 (10 women, 2 of whose names I didn't even recognise, and 5 men).

In the intervening years, there were never more than half that number (though there were 7 per year in 1989-91) and sometimes just one or two.

Sadly, in 1988, 11 of those 15 players went out in R1 and the other 4 lost in R2, so whether you'd count it as a good year or not, I don't know!

Gone for 15, because why not? Mainly doubles wins.

I went for 10 because I didn't read the question.  no

I thought it was just singles matches.

I guess you'd be 18 plus if you counted doubles as well then?

By the way I'm not sure how to do it but guess I should close this poll when play starts at midnight ? Not sure if a mod is able to do that for me?

So day 1 ends and we have two wins in total (out of 7 matches played ) I think I expected we might get 3 wins in total, Katie was a surprise win for me ( I didnt expect any womens wins), and Cam and Kyle losing were disappointments to me. But well done Katie and Dan to get us off the mark.

I realise I didnt offer a zero option in the poll but at least that didnt come to pass!

Neither Kyle nor Cam's loss is surprising to me. It seems like if the person you recently beat ends up being a LL, for example, the LL wins. Berdych was a very tough ask for Kyle.

Hope the person with "4" also misread the question or they really do have bad feelings about the doubles !

V true indi, although I feel my 18 plus vote was now a little overoptimistic, probably fuelled by too much vino!

Keep the faith. I'm in the over 18 camp and nothing today changed that.

Edit : actually recounting it has, I'm now down to a precisely 18 estimate, 4 singles and 14 doubles ( from 7 singles and 14 doubles ) and Jo is my other 2 singles wins so here's hoping ( she's won her R1 first set in a TB ).

But be great if my actual original > 18 yet comes in.
