Sabalenka a class above, not really having to do much. Can see why shes third favourite for the tournament.

Just realised there isnt a separate thread. Dan Evans fantastic match with Federer is going to get less attention that the doubles which is wrong.

Fear not, for our men, with 8 entrants in 6 separate pairs, there is a separate doubles thread.

So that is where you can go to read about our men's doubles progress or avoid it as the case may be.

Harriet and Kontaviet on today - good luck to her. Jo is on night match on Margaret Court, should be good to catch up on around breakfast tomorrow

Thought Katie did well there and can hold her head high. Made the last 64 which is well above her current ranking and hopefully she can build on that ranking in the coming months.

Sabalenka vs Anisimova will be one to look forward to in the next round.

britstonian pair dart/kontaveit progress to r32 in the dubs 64 in the decider

puts dart at about £50K ote for the event so far which is well earned and useful for funding her ambitians for the rest of this pivotal year

I assume the people with night tickets are not allowed in yet so after Venus finishes they have to empty the court and refill with night ticket holders?

Then Zverev playing before Jo

Similar on main rod laver where halep is 2-2 final set before 2 night matches due to start.

Don't the aus open folks just play on regardless, been plenty of 2 am matches in past!

I read on the AO website that ticketholders for the night sessions aren't allowed in until at least 30 minutes after the end of the preceding match, so there is quite a gap

Yes, with Zverevs match probably not starting until 9pm poor Jo could have a very long wait. I cannot imagine what it is like to play a strenuous and mentally and emotionally demanding tennis match when your body click thinks you ought to be asleep.

edit:

Zverevs match has started already, so fingers crossed it is not too lengthy.

Zverev/Chardy has gone to a fifth.
Surely Jo's match won't be on today.
