Makarova being a mental midget might yet save her.

 Yup.

But brilliant match from Katie. Forehand was sensational good and kept her nerve under pressure.

Absolutely. That forehand was just beautiful - and technically so good, that it was so reliable too, and didn't break down, Makarova looked worried every time it went on that wing.

Really pleased for her - super time to play a clutch match.

I think it has been mentioned by someone previously but I cant find it, Jo on first up tomorrow on Court 3, presumably that is midnight UK time.

Only GB player tomorrow. Presumably Katie v Sabalenka on Wednesday will get a decent court setting?

Super from Katie. And so good that that super TB didn't turn on its head after she thought she'd won when she got to 7. Well picked up again.

Harriet I fell will get over the initial huge disappointment of the Sharapova whipping pretty quickly, learn from it and move on again.

All the best to Heather.

Especially impressive from Katie given her historical stamina issues in 3 setters.

Harriet seems a pretty resilient character, she bounced back from a double bagel last year and I'm sure she'll do it again.

Though on her day Katie does see out longish matches and some big ones at that such as also Wimbledon R1. Though guess helps if you sail through set 1.

I think she has said that back to back matches can be more of an issue for her but here she at least has the day off.

Well done Jo. She played well overall but a bad mass to get broken in the second and some missed chances in the third made life difficult. But she scrapped and battled.

Won't beat Muguruza but that was an important win today.
