Match fixing

Stakhovsky should resign from the ATP council. Outrageous

 Indeed ...

"Thin line between whistle-blower and snitch .."

 Though after he was tweeted some article ( in Spanish ) :

 "Read it(or as much as google translated). Taking my words back."

This information should be passed in the first place by TIU and ATP. So Marco is no left and dont have to prove himself."

Hmm, wondering if it was info that some folk there might have preferred to suppress.

Anyway his first tweet still remains outrageous that it was ever written. With comments like that and what Marco has faced who in future will do the right thing?!  What a crew composes many on the ATP council.

Steven has just posted on his twitter feed a TIU statement in defence of Trungelliti, originally from Ben Rothenburg's twitter feed.

Not quite match fixing but all fits under the same heading really....

"Tennis coach Miguel Tobon has been suspended for 12 months and fined $20,000 after being found to have traded wild cards in return for payment at a number of tennis tournaments staged in 2017."

I know we have threads for doping and match fixing but I couldn't find one for 'other' cheating, fraud, illegal activities etc.

So, on a bit of a tangent, the 1972 Roland Garros finalist, Patrick Proisy, ex-WR 16, is currently appealing against having been found guilty of fraudulent transfers in his role as ex-President at FC Strasbourg. At the same time, the prosecution are appealing against the 'too-lenient' sentences (10 months suspended sentence and 25k fine).

And along similar lines, we now have an umpire in the Florence Challenger giving major advice to a player:

Stefano Berlincioni

@Carretero77
Sep 27
BREAKING VIDEO! Umpire Moscarella giving any kind of advice to player during toilet break "Stay focused" "Come on" "2 minutes and its over" "Match should be 61 61 you had 45 break points" "Focused please" etc (via @Giampao57271089). Is this acceptable?

twitter.com/Carretero77

Much discussion that he'd bet on the match, and was involved in the outcome.

Maybe even worse, the same umpire was then also recorded saying highly inappropriate things to one of the ball-girls during the match:

Stefano Berlincioni

@Carretero77
Sep 29
BREAKING VIDEO! More about the umpire behaviour in that match. Said to ballgirl "You are fantastic Very sexy Are you ok? Its hot. Do you feel hot? Phisically or emotionally? Is this acceptable addressed to a young girl even if said "as a joke"?

The ATP reacted, and dismissed him from the tournament, and provisionally suspended him from all contracted services for the ATP, pending investigation.

But seriously?????

And, not new, but this is a dreadful indictment of the ATP, the ITF and the TIU and their total lack of support (needs translating unless you read Italian)

 Well, the good news is that Trungelliti won the Florence Challenger last week, a good win and first in 12 months since same event last year. Hopefully he will go onwards

The name Trungelliti rang a bell - he will feature in "Strongest Nations" this week on the ATP side for ARG.

Like Zebedee he seems to like Florence.

edited for old joke.

Does this mean they're no longer going to be providing live scores for fans? If so, why can't they just ban betting on 15Ks or say to the betting firms, set odds if you must but don't blame us (or expect us to investigate) if players throw matches?

Yes, no live scores for fans, from what I understand. Which is a real shame for the diehard few like us.... (but it is only a diehard few....)

But I don't think they'd be able to ban betting on 15ks if the scores were there - they don't control the private betting companies, and the companies are in many different countries, so it wouldn't work. Of course, they could just have a major time delay on livescores which would effectively kill it. But my guess is they'll just not have any cry
